I very much enjoyed this lecture. I found it just the right balance of theory and practice, and the
format was just about as perfect as it could be to teach this material.
Luke demonstrated
two very strong pieces, then when on to explain each, their components, history, and variations, In
fact, anything I could think of asking was answered, and the detail given ensured that everyone
present understood.
After the demonstration and explanation of the first two pieces, Luke
entered into the theory aspect of his lecture. I really enjoyed this section, and will have to go
back and review it when the download is available. Not only did he discuss the core principles used
in the first two routines, he discussed his views of magic and mentalist, entertainment,
structuring your performance, why he strays from conventional thought on openers, and much, much
more. His thoughts on cold reading, claimers and disclaimers, and a host of other things. In short,
we learned a bit of how he thinks.
At right about the two hour point, Luke entered the
second performance phase. I’m not exactly sure how many routines were demonstrated and taught in
this section as multiple variations were also explored. These were very strong pieces, and based on
principles taught in the first section and elaborated on in the second (theory) section. Had the
lecture not been structured the way it was, many of the key and core principles may have not been
understood or not truly understood.
In addition to very cool routines, and what could be
a complete 1 hour show, we were all provided with key concepts and building blocks to expand upon
and build our own material with.
To conclude the lecture was a very candid an open
conversation between Dan and Luke. I know that this helped me understand Luke a lot more, where he
has been, and some of what he has gone through. We also got a glimpse and where is going to.
I highly recommend this lecture to anyone interested in strong, personal mentalism and mind
reading.

I'd like to start off this review by saying that I've been a big fan of Luke Jermay for quite a long
time and I watch him perform and teach whenever I get the opportunity (unfortunately, I've yet to
see him in person). This lecture exceeded all of my expectations!
Luke not only covers some
amazing effects, like his version of the TOD and Connection, among others, but also offers insight
into the theory of structuring a show and finding inspiration in the magicians/mentalists of the
past and present.
I can already guess that some reviewers may complain that "there weren't
enough tricks" in this lecture, and I have to say that those potential reviewers have missed the
point entirely! Luke has shared enough material for you to go out and, not only perform an entire
stage show, but to do it in your own voice.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend this
purchase to everyone. The amount of information you get for $29.95 (or $24.95 for pre-orders!) is
unbelievable.

Luke needs to find a manufacturing partner to sell the deck he uses in the first routine. It would
sell like hotcakes. I've been a fan of Luke's work for as long as I can remember. My first exposure
to him was in one of Kenton Knepper's manuscripts. I think it might have been Miracles of
Suggestion. (Side note... that manuscript has one of the most clever and bold Headline Predictions
ever. David Hoy and Dunninger would be proud.)
If I was forced to be critical of this
lecture, it would be sleight (misspelled on purpose). It's actually not a criticism of the lecture
content, but more of a note for what I think Luke could improve upon. When he is storytelling and
engaging with earnestness, that comes through in spades (another magic reference, can't help it).
When he is in that mode, I hang on to every word he speaks. But there were quite a few times where
he made quips and jabs at his participates. Obviously he was going for humor with those, but they
didn't fly for me, and they didn't seem to fly for the live audience either. It's just a delivery
thing. A slight pause and smirk can do wonders to quell the audience's tension of "he just made fun
of that guy, that was funny, but maybe I feel badly for that guy who just got made fun of, but how
did he take it, I hope he's not upset, but that was funny, should I laugh?"
Derren Brown
does similar quips with his audience a lot, but in his case they land with laughter. In Luke's case
here, they just felt a little bit mean, even though that clearly wasn't his intention.
Anyway, that's a very hyper-critical analysis of one small issue. Long story short, if you are
at all interested in mentalism, do yourself a favor and purchase this lecture.

This was a well thought out, highly informative mentalism lecture that invited you into the depths
of Jermay's mind. It was oriented around some of Jermay's best work and it flows from effects to
theory, really focusing on presentational style and playing with dual reality. Jermay was genuine
and generous and I haven't seen this level of sincerity since Peter Turner's lecture. A real
pleasure to watch, highly recommended!

I have never been a great fan of Luke's commercialized products. Actually, if you check, very few of
them have 5-starts average popular rating.
But the lecture…it is simply the demonstration of how
a true pro should always be. It is not only about the effects. It is, above all, his stance on stage
and how deeply thought his act is. If you want to see a great professional in mentalism, this is it.
You may like mentalism or not, you may like his approach to mentalism or not, it may fit your
needs or not, but this is definitely the top penguin lecture in terms of professionality imho.
Congratulations Penguin and Luke Jermay.

This lecture is solid gold! Not only the effects are amazing, there is great theory behind the
effects and the methods are practical and deceptive.
I know that many performers are very
interested in learning new effects but the true value of this lecture is the advice Luke gives in
putting together a show, performing it and overall becoming a better performer.
There is nothing
else I need to say. This will make you a better performer.

I follow Luke's work for a long time. This "new" Luke is really refreshing and even more inspiring.
In this lecture you'll not learn great material, you'll also have a thoughtful, deep and provocative
lecture. This is the real thing. Not only a lecture about mentalism and performance but also a
lecture about life. See it asap.

I have seen every lecture for the last 8 months and this is without question one of the best. It
was brilliant in terms of the choices that he made and in terms of the choices that he encouraged
the listeners to make.
One of the few lectures that I will watch again and again.
His thank
you at the end was so heartfelt and sincere that it touched me deeply.

This lecture was one of the best lectures Penguin has had.
Although most of what Luke did, did
not fool me, his presentation and insights were outstanding.
I wish more were like this.

Luke is still a voice to hear in Mentalism. His ideas and insightful thoughts at times gave me
literal shivers and made me realize how passion, time and hard work is in everything that he does.
In terms of effects, he teaches a great TOD routine with a deck that allows several
opportunities. His "living and death" test is beautifully constructed and his complete dissertation
of his "Touching on Hoy" including several variations is just a small piece of light of his truly
genius mind.
My favorite section was the theory talk related to performance, understanding
your character, the magic that you are doing and much more.
Thanks Luke for your efforts,
all the best in your work and life.
