Jeopardy Is Worth the Price of this DVD Report this review

This is a good DVD. Some of the effects require props and gimmicked items that you buy extra. I like the basic content of the DVD, but some of it is just Paul's routine for already known effects (Chicago Opener, sponge balls, Copper/Silver, etc.). In that sense it doesn't break new ground. However, buy this for the Jeopardy effect. This is a great mind blowing routine. Audiences will go home trying to figure out how you did this. I watched it several times and still couldn't figure it out. Oh, and its EASY! No sleights, no fancy moves, no gimmicks, use any deck of cards...you will be performing it in 20 minutes after watching the DVD. This is the kind of effect you will use again and again.

I did not like every effect on this DVD, but I will tell you the effect that is worth the whole DVD alone, Jeopardy.
In one effect you have a whole routine and you can switch up the patter and presentation anyway you would like. I have done this various times and spectators truly love it. If you perform at private parties and do little shows, I bleive there are many effects on here, you could put every effect on this DVD into a routine and have a whole 30 - 45 minute quality show.
Overall completely worth it and the teaching and quality were great.

I got this DVD as part of a Penguin Promo, and it has not disappointed me. I wasn't expecting a lot since I had never heard of Paul Green, and the video style is a little drab, but other than that, the material is excellent. Jeopardy completely fooled me when I saw it initially, and only now have I discovered it's actually a take on a classic effect. Paul Green is a true worker, and it shows. If you're interested in improving your card magic, also check out his DVD on the classic force! It's a must-have.

I got this as a bonus item from penguin. The dvd explains Mr. Green's act. I recently saw the act in the Magic Castle and to be honest I wasn't very impressed. The best trick, in my opinion is Jeopardy. The material is not original and better versions of most tricks can be found elsewhere (books and dvds)better executed. It is not bad magic but I think you could spend your money better.

This is a great DVD with loads of material you WILL actually use. Jeopardy is an absolutely outstanding trick which I was able to learn in 5 minutes and went straight into my routine. I actually got this DVD at the last UK Convention off the Penguin Stand. Within a couple of minutes I ran straight into Paul Green himself! I pulled the the DVD out and asked him to sign it - when he saw that I'd just got it he actually gave me his HOME PHONE NUMBER in case I needed any help! Now THAT'S a great guy!
A Great DVD Report this review

This DVD has a lot of good stuff. There is a really good coin routine that you can use that is easy to do and will amaze your spectators. The best part of the whole DVD is the trick Jeopardy and is in my opinion worth the price of the DVD alone. What makes this trick so good is that a lot of it is completely controlled by the spectator. They determine how many cards are reversed. This is a really powerful mentalist trick. Buy this video and I'm sure you'll agree that it's well worth the money.
A pretty good DVD Report this review

This is a good DVD for those new to magic, but I wouldn't recommend it to those who have been in magic a while or those who have purchased other DVD's with cards, ropes, etc.
The one shining moment of this DVD in my opinion is Paul's "Jeopardy" routine. It's a clever spin on the triple prediction effect and I really enjoyed his handling.
Again, new to magic: a great DVD to own; a seasoned pro: don't bother, you've seen it all before.
While he clearly does his job well... Report this review

This is ridiculous.
These are wonderful routines, but for the most part they aren't his. The first three are great examples.
His addition to the Triple Prediction was the Jeopardy ending. That's something you can learn from a footnote or a friendly post he could make on The Cafe. More than this... he does it wrong. (In my humble opinion).. for a Jeopardy revelation, use cue cards, not an unfolding paper. It's more game show. Better still, have cue cards with dollar values on the back as in Jeopardy.
in Sponge Balls, he's doing a standard routine. With standard jokes. Worse, he uses the insult-the-audience jokes. Why? Every part of his routine is "pay attention" "No, pay attention". This goes against everything we should be taught. (As noted in Scripting Magic: instead of "you're wrong", say "you're right, but...." then magically change.)
Rope... it's a standard routine. That's what you see on so many other rope DVDs, and beginner books. And he doesn't do it with any great entertainment value. His showmanship is average. I don't want to put it down (the showmanship) but it's not at a level where you should or could learn from it.
Argh. Frustrated not 'cause I paid for it (it was a free bonus), but because it's just contributing to the litter of unnecessary publications that confuse the education process in this fine art.

A great DVD full of highly usable material.
And as some of the other reviewers have been saying "Jeopardy" is Excellent.

Just the first effect he performs is worth the cost of the whole DVD. Paul Green is quite a remarkable magician. I have had the good fortune of actually seeing his performance at the Magic Castle and he is very entertaining. The effects on this DVD are very powerful and can devastate your audience. Definite Buy!
