Gaffed deck and gimmicks:
A fully gaffed deck (some assembly required) and extra gimmicks needed to perform the full 52SOR routines and effects.

Instructional Streaming tutorial:
Over 3 hours of intense teaching! Shin goes over his entire act in great detail and teaches you every move, method and nuance that goes into his live performance... The priceless information included in this package has been tested through hundreds of performances worldwide.

Bonus Effects:
Shin also goes over all the effects seen in the official 52 shades trailer. Though these are "bonus" effects, these effects alone are worth the price of this trick.
*TV rights ARE included for the "bonus" effects!

Bonus Effects:
Misprint: This idea allows you to show what appears to be a misprinted card and in an instant(under your complete control) you cause the card to warp back to its normal self.

Small to Big: The magician shows a miniature deck of cards, and in an instant it vanishes and all you're holding in your hand is a regular single playing card (an idea contributed by Chris Severson)

Multiple Change: Change the backs of a single playing card in the open 4 times. Its quick, fast, bold, and insanely visual.

Multiple cards vanish: Cause a packet of cards to either turn into just a single card or vanish altogether.

Picasso: An idea by both Tom Elderfield and Shin Lim, the magician is able to slowly paint the back of a playing card, bit by bit. Everything is done in the open and there are no angle issues.

Box Color change 2.0: A very angle proof and practical box color change (an idea contributed by Nevin Sanchez)

Flap Cards: Shin Lim personally teaches you his take on the flap cards, and how he believes it's an improved version from the classic flap cards.

Get ready to go on a journey that will change your technique, thinking, and philosophy on card magic. Explore your own path of card routining with the Second Edition of 52 Shades of Red.

Shin Lim has performed his 52 Shades Routine all over the globe. He closed "The Illusionist" Broadway show with it as well.

*Television rights for Shin Lim's 52 Shades of Red / 52V2 / 52SOR routine are not included in this package. For Television rights please contact management of Shin Lim.

I have the first version of 52 shades of red, and it seems like this one is much longer in duration, as well as explanation. Not only do you get to see the methods, but Shin goes over everything, including why he does what he does, as well as go through every movement in his act (with the exception of Gone Deck, which will be released on the 18th of January I believe). The actual 52 shades routine is so much better than it used to be, and like I said, every movement is explained. Mike Charles, a friend of Shin, also is there the whole time, and asks some questions that viewers might have, so that way if you don't understand completely, Mike clears it up. 5/5 on the main routine, so much better than before, and I loved the old version.

Along with the main routine all of these are covered.
Misprint: Misprint is a very visual fixation of a card, and in my opinion very clean, I think it would be cool to use this in a routine with Paul Harris's screwed deck. 5/5 for being visual and clean.

Small to Big: This is another boom in your face moment, it is very unexpected and very visual. (an idea by Chris Severson)Very easy to do as well 5/5

Multiple Change: This does what it's called, you change the color of the card not one, not twice, but four times. It's crazy visual, and pretty clean too! 5/5

Multiple cards vanish: I feel like this is inspired by Aaron Fisher's Panic a little bit, but is brought on the next level in my opinion, you hold a packet, and it visually turns to a four of a kind , or one card, all the cards vanish, or they transform into something else completly! 5/5

Picasso: An idea by both Tom Elderfield and Shin. You change the color of one card, and paint the rest of the deck into that color. Very Very visual, but a little angly if you don't make the gimmick perfect. But when made correctly, it is a beautiful change 5/5
Box Color change 2.0: An advancement on the Box color change on the original 52 shades. Personally I like the other one better, but the perks of this one is it is much more visual, as well as a faster cleaner change.(an idea contributed by Nevin Sanchez)4/5 I like the faster cleaner change, but like how the original shows the whole box.
Flap Cards: Shin's version of the classic flap card. With his additions and how he constructs it, makes it into a flap card you can actually use. It is the best flap card up to date, and has a very less chance of breaking. 5/5

Although Gone Deck is not taught, another box vanish is, the one used on his China tour, and it is also very clean and visual.

So if you are looking to add some visual magic, this is for you. If you are looking how to expand your creativity, this is for you. If you are not willing to put in work, or make your own gimmicks, this is not for you, because you have to make a gimmick for all of the things taught. this is not for the lazy magician, but once you put in the work on making the gimmicks, it pays off so quickly! If you have the original as well, I would recommend picking this up, because the additions are worth it. One thing to note is that you can't use the actual 52 shades routine for television. Great work by Shin, and the rest of the people involved in the project! 5/5

Just a few warnings Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on June 13th, 2016
If this had been a DVD explaining the core secret (with applicable routines that can be performed or even some starter ideas) I think it would have been much better.

The teaching is very strong although there is a key part of Shin's routine that he does not explain AT ALL and there is no simple way to figure it out. Not that it matters too much because you aren't allowed to perform 52 Shades of Red. Made contact with his mother through his website (and she was lovely!) and she passed on some info from Shin, which was great but it still didn't make up for the gaps.

Warnings:
- The Arts and Crafts of this trick aren't just minutes or even a few hours, we are talking a whole day of assembly (if you include making/lining your performance table/mat appropriately). It's good discipline but I think that younger people will be frustrated by the lack of "insta-trick"
- The deck included is opposite to the instructions on the video. It took 4 hours of wasted Arts and Crafts to figure this out (plus I used up all my gimmicks). Penguin were great with replacing the deck however it should be mentioned in the video or on the site to make everything opposite to Shin.
- There are some aspects and some techniques which you can perform in normal environments and there is a lot of this that can only be performed in specific conditions - be warned.

Conclusion:
This is not a ha-ha trick. It's not a "gotcha!" trick. This is a particular style of magic that's meant to be elegant and beautiful. If you are still at the stage of feeling like you need to move quickly to perform moves, this isn't for you. At it's heart, the techniques in this trick are meant for super up close scrutiny, preferably on a giant screen. There's no room for jerky panicked moving. I appreciate Shin's style. This kind of magic risks being obnoxious but Shin does a great job of waking up the wonder AND he's a pretty decent teacher.

Sweet routine, be prepared to make a few things Report this review

Be prepared to make a few things... I didn't buy the first version but I'm assuming that it took a lot of arts and craft. This version 2 seems much easier to make than the first one. You will need a few things, like x-acto blade, rubber cement/paper cement and super glue, to make every single thing in this routine. Also be prepared to buy a couple things (they only cost a few bucks) if you want to make two certain things. Overall, a great routine a little over priced, but if you are willing to get creative an awesome routine.

I have never gotten better reactions then with the effects in this routine. For those that say it doesn't work close up, well, they are only half right. At best most effects can be used as close as 2-3ft away from the spectators with only a few effects needing to be under the right conditions. The only "complaints" (and I use that word lightly) are the deck being reverse of what shin uses in the Tutorial (just don't make the gimmicks until you know the method. The deck Shin uses turns from blue to red, the one you get will turn from red to blue. Also the list of materials is extensive, Rubber cement, super glue, xacto knife, spray adhesive and glue sticks (Trust me buy them before you get the product). There is also the requirement of two items which I'm not sure I can mention, but one is only online and requires international shipping and the other is fairly easy to obtain but still costs money. To buy the last two items expect to spend around $30 if you live in the US.

Amazing routine, public exposure limitation ruins it Report this review

First , I am a huge fan of shin and this routine. I give it 6stars if I could but limiting it to where we can't post us doing any of it on a website , YouTube , perform for schools etc is a problem. Why build it all and master it but can't really show it? That's the only problem with this effect.

A lot of materials covered for a price Report this review

It was what I thought of. I read many reviews before I purchased this trick. Many people were saying that this is DIY base trick and it is not really practical if performed in extreme close up situation. I agree with most parts. But gaff deck you are going to get is kind of rare one and you can perform the part of the routine in close up if you handle it correctly. Plus you will get valuable instruction of how to create gaffs and extra ideas. For a price, it covers a lot of things. It is not a bad idea to purchase this if you have not experienced with DIY work and willing to start.

Only for the stage, trying a different version of this in the hands in possible but can be a bit tricky and exposed in front of viewers. I know this was not designed to be like that but the over all detail in the video just wasn't there for me, great routine and good work Shin but I just think it won't work for me. However in saying that the design of the gaff deck can be used in many applications, not just with flap cards and so forth, therefore I do suggest even though it is expensive to purchase it so you can learn from it and who knows, maybe you can make a routine that will suit you!

Awesome trick, however upon receiving the trick, one of the gimmicks was broken and I am missing a card. I have emailed twice without any response.
