'THUNK!' is a brand new PDF from Liam Montier.

At nearly 75 pages and photos throughout, it details a whopping dozen tricks!

6 of the effects have been routined together into 2 mini 'sets', making them an ideal act of card magic for when somebody just hands you a deck of cards!

Everything uses just a regular deck, and no complicated sleights or moves - everything is well in the range of magicians familiar with the Double Lift, Elmsley Count, etc.

Contains...

Set 1

  • Poker Face - A 'Derren Brown' style poker demonstration concludes with a startling production!
  • WWBD - Four Aces are impossibly cut to from a topsy turvy deck, before everything straightens itself out. The most direct handling possible.
  • Hitchslap Aces - The Henry Christ Fabulous Four Ace trick gets a make over, with help from Andi Gladwin, and a killer Chad Long idea!

Set 2

  • Sly Cheese - Cameron Francis - A crazy backfire Aces routine that is EASY! You will love it!
  • Hoarders - Go straight into a David Regal inspired super-clean collectors!
  • Rebound - Having caught the selections from the deck in the previous trick, the selections now 'Rebound!' back into the pack in a visual fashion.

Miscellanea

  • Headshot - Liam's definitive version of the Richard Sanders 'King Thing' plot. This is easy, deceptive, and completely fooling. A keeper!
  • Date - The Royal Marriages plot. But good.
  • Cold Case - Do Hofzinsers Ace with no moves, the Aces isolated in the card case before you start, and reveal a card that not even the spectators knew they had chosen!
  • Repeat Offender - The only technical piece in the book, a surprising card revelation that even works when the spectator tries it, with the deck out of your hands!
  • Keepers - A KILLER handling of Alex Elmsley's Serendipity routine, where two predictions between three Queens turn out to be the selected and signed cards.
  • Age of Conus - Part Conus Aces, part mentalism, this crazy routine has literally everything!

Ever got stuck when someone asked you to show a card trick, and you just didn't know what to do? Then this might be the book for you.

Okay first an overall look of the pros and cons.

Pros:
-Easy - most of the tricks will be easy and fast to learn for experienced magicians and beginners have a good place to get started(I do have to warn though, some basic knowledge of card magic is preferred, because some sleights aren't explained in great detail, but most magicians will already know most of the sleights).
-original magic - you probably know most of the moves and will be thinking, this is so easy, why didn't I think of that.
-anytime, anywhere and any deck - These tricks can all be performed right away(even if there is a set-up required, you will be able to set it up in front of the spectators without them knowing)
-complete scripts for the routines - don't know what to tell with the tricks? Don't worry, the book gives you some good lines to use with the tricks.
-every trick is usefull

cons:
-Vague explanations - most of the explanations are good to follow, but I had one explanation of a trick that was a bit vague and I had to do some puzzling to find a method to get it to work.

The bottom line:
A great book that is definitely worth the money. This is definitely some stuff you can use, if you'll take the time to learn these tricks you will always be prepared when someone asks you to do a trick when they hand you a deck of cards. I gave it a 4 because the tricks are great, the methods are definitely good, but in the end the explanations can be a bit more time-consuming to those who are not used to reading magic. Luckily I didn't have a problem with that because I love books, and I think that you should just buy the book, it's too damn good to let it go. Those who don't buy it are definitely missing out.

This is a really cool eBook. There are a lot of great and practical methods in here for some really solid card magic. The methods are not difficult but you should go into the book with basic card knowlege.

I didn't find a lot of vague explanation BUT with any book sometimes the "what the spectator sees" never reads as well as the effect REALLY is. When I first read a couple effects I said "meh" but after playing with them I was really happy with how they came out.

I really enjoy how there are suggested sets in here as well. I think that is an excellent idea and more magic authors should give it a try. Not because we should follow the sets as written but sometimes we are unsure of how to arrange the effects in question. Like "does the author think this is a closer or opener?" or "How would the author routine something like this??" often questions I think about when reading something produced.

Overall it's worth the money an a great addition. I'll be performing Pokerface for sure (little tip: switch the aces for blank cards).
