“For those of you who have seen Patrick work before need no introduction. In the past 10 years or so he has built up an international reputation for his brilliant and inspired thinking in the mentalist arena. You will not get any pipe dreams here. Just powerful and practical audience tested mysteries you will definitely want to use!” - John Carey

“When George visits us here at the magic shop he draws a crowd of people eager to tell him how great his tricks are working for them since they’ve made them a regular part of their act. He has a brilliant mind that approaches magic in innovative directions. His effects are fair and believable, incorporating original methods with strong audience impact that appear to be purely magic." - Paul Nielsen (Owner of Wunderground Magic in Metro Detroit)

“'I am a fan of Patrick Redford.' Those eight words sum up, in very simple terms, what I think of the creativeness of this individual. But to leave it at those eight words lacks the essence and complexity of who and what Patrick Redford really is. Patrick Redford is a very unique individual who looks beyond the boundaries of any box he is placed within. Through his effects he continuously creates a new kaleidoscope of imaginary worlds that we, as mystery performers, can thrive within. When you take a walk with this teacher, the impossible becomes possible, the lost becomes found, and the past becomes the present. Time stands still within his hands and is molded into impossible scenarios that become a reality that most could never imagine. Patrick Redford is a maestro at taking the mundane and pouring new life into it. I am always amazed by his creation of creative walkways that enter zones that no other has been able to fathom. His staircase is always a floor longer than any others that have been created before and, as a result, we all can reach higher in our entertainment goals. I continuously find myself giving this artist a standing ovation for causing us all to take a closer look at each and every piece we perform. "I use Patrick Redford's Ideas in my show." These are another eight words that convey, in no small terms, what I think of the creativeness of this individual. His thinking is just that strong.” - Banachek

"Some of the most astounding effects I have ever seen performed.” - Howard Hamburg

“Patrick is incredible - whenever we Skype I am left dumbfounded! He has a wealth of knowledge and whenever we jam I am constantly grinning like a Cheshire cat at how brilliant he is. Pay attention to the beautiful subtleties and genuine psychology Patrick shares. He is wise beyond his years!” - Peter Turner

"If you like to partake in bondage with teddy bears, Patrick Redford’s material is for you. No, but seriously. It is. He's also one of the few people I know who is constantly striving to improve every area of their performance... The scripting, the methods and the overall effect on an audience. Due to this, his new lecture is guaranteed to provoke plenty of thought and offer wonderful new gems that you'll want to adopt and make your own." - Colin Mcleod (Colin Cloud Kills)

“Patrick is a very, very clever fellow. His work on the Forgotten Ploy is on the cutting edge of mentalism. His thinking is unique and fresh. Watching his lecture is like taking a wild ride on the roller coaster of his mind. You will enjoy the many surprising twists and turns.” - Christian Painter (of Christian and Catalina)

"Patrick is one of my favorites in the recent generation of mentalists. His contributions are consistently valuable and innovative, and I recommend them highly." - Bob Cassidy

“There’s a reason Patrick Redford is one of the first people I contact when I want to discuss new ideas for my show. That’s because he’s an encyclopedia of mentalism knowledge and an amazing creator of methods. The thinking and detail he puts into every one of his effects truly shows his passion for the art. But he never just stops there. He’s continually making his strong ideas even stronger by adding subtleties and variations that will give you the necessary tools to find a presentation and method that works best for you. He’s also vegan and sometimes wears a bowler hat….but nobody’s perfect.” - Eric Dittelman (Semi-Finalist on America’s Got Talent, 2015 Best Male Performer in the College Market)

What will he teach?

Target Practice for Four - Play a game of virtual roulette where one person among many focuses on a negative thought while the other three focus on happy thoughts of their choosing. The performer is able to tune in an separate the negative thought from the happy ones and divine what each thought is. Learn two other techniques using this devious principle that you can perform impromptu, anywhere, anytime.

A Budge to Stop Smoking - This unique multi-phase piece is a pocket sized light and heavy chest that may be adopted to a borrowed pack of cigarettes making it impossible for the participant to remove his or her own cigarettes from the container.

One Minute in the Future - Give the audience the power to predict a coin spin or flip successfully every time. Redford will finally also tip his method for controlling the orientation of how a coin spun on a table will land without touching the coin.

Invisible Toss - An invisible coin is used to make decisions to create an imaginary image the performer somehow controls.

A discussion on Equivoque - Redford shares his favorite techniques on Equivoque that you’ll swear couldn’t be!

Hands off Coin Bend - A coin is bent without the performer coming in physical contact with it.

If you’re a fan of the Any Card at Any Number, Open Prediction, and 51 Faces North Plot, Redford will perform some select pieces from his newest book Applesauce!

Who is he?

Patrick's specialty is both in stage performance as well as impromptu on the spot mental effects. He’s most known for his release Prevaricator which is a master class in non-contact mind reading covering the skills of lie detection, identifying which hand is hiding an object, and which person among many is hiding an object.

"Patrick G. Redford" was born out of necessity in 2004 as a pen name of a Michigan based performer after being asked to lecture to a group of performers. While it is no secret as to his real identity, Patrick prefers his publications to be kept well away from the Google Monster when clients and the mere curious google after a show. "Patrick" is "Redford's" real name, in fact his middle. The surname "Redford" stems from the town he spent his first thirteen years of life. The "G." is better left alone. Redford has made a career with his unique Mentalism and has caught the ears and minds of such notable folks as Banachek, Derren Brown, Keith Barry, Marc Salem, Andrew Mayne and many others. He has advised and created custom projects for some of the top names in our field and continues to produce a wide array of material that is considered to be among of the "best of the best."

Redford has appeared at a variety of conventions around the world from IMX and Mindvention in Las Vegas to South Tynside's International Magic Festival in England. He's been seen on Finnish and American television and performed on stages throughout the USA, Canada, South America, South East Asia, and Europe. He toured with Masters of Illusion Live with highlighting his "Mind Tapped Art" and also worked behind the scenes helping to design one of the illusions on the world renowned show The Illusionists.

Underwhelming Performance Report this review

I won't comment on the magic. As a performance, I found it rather painful to watch. Mr. Redford seemed very nervous. He flubbed one effect entirely early on which clearly rattled him, struggled with some others, forgot critical components of explanations, constantly "stepped on the dramatic moments" (in his words), gave foreshadowing introductions which (as he then pointed out himself) couldn't possibly make sense to someone who didn't know what was coming, regularly mentioned how he'd had no sleep, cursed (parents who care about that kind of thing will care), made attempts at humor which (judging by the audience's silence) nearly always fell flat (though Dan Harlan tried his best to laugh supportively). One might have been entertained by the magic, but I certainly wasn't by the magician. I expect this was an anomaly and I felt badly for Mr. Redford.

May just be the best one yet Report this review

This may just be one of the best lectures yet. Everything is dynamic enough, George goes at a steady rate but makes sure you have time to learn along with him. Proper crediting is always given.

The routines are absolutely incredible as well. Standouts would have to be his versions of Deddy Corbuzier's Free Will plot, the variation and the first effect. The effect from Applesauce was also brilliant (I was familiar with it). I think that anyone who purchases this lecture will find tremendous value in it.

Purchase it and learn everything Patrick is willing to share. He exceeded my expectations with this one and did something that is rarely done: taught solid, practical material and did an even better job than in his first lecture.

Even Better Than His First Lecture Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 31st, 2015
Patrick Redford is definitely becoming more masterful as a mentalist. The effects demonstrated are definitely worth more than the price of the lecture. If you're into mentalism, this lecture is a great addition to your library.

Wow! So many more cool ideas. The Invisible Coin opener is one I'm thinking about. It's already given me an idea.

Loved the coin count and how it went wrong, but Patrick refused to give up then gave an explanation of what happened. That's what I like to see... just press on.

There's just too many to go over here. I hate to direct anyone here, but the coin in paper napkin is KILLER!!

Poor execution. Report this review

I found the choice of effects to be underwhelming and some a bit obvious (enough to not want to perform them to lay people!)

I like Redford but I have never really found any of his stuff I would actually use for paying audiences. The only thing I liked was his touches on equivoque - however I already knew most of the principles that he spoke of.

His ACAAN was just a variation of an old Dai Vernon trick and I found the other effects lacking.

As someone who actually goes out to paying customers - it takes a lot for me to add an effect into my set (although I am always looking for one). My advice, stick with the classics.

Nearly three minutes on name? Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on November 24th, 2022
It is a big mistake to start a magic lecture by spending nearly three minutes talking about your name. If you felt it was that important, slip it in during the lecture, not at the beginning.

Q&A is awesome Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on September 20th, 2015
To talk in the Q&A about suicide, anxiety and many funny coincidences that elevated George to Jesus like status is wonderful, sincere and with the coincidences funny. His material is wonderful, I already hurt my head phrasing the psychological force (with backup) of the coin toss in Dutch because that is a worker. The trick with no middle is wonderful (forgot the name) but that's stuff I've always liked.

Plus the fact that George like other professional mentalists hopefully realize that we have a power to mislead people and that this is a moral problem -- like claiming NLP (which is nothing more than a religion) was used to force words or psychology (which in some cases it self suffers from lack of proper science) was the thing that made you choose XY or Z really started to sit wrong with me too.

And the conclusion of the speech to say: "I don't know" and that this is commonly seen as a dirty phrase. When it's not!" Is just wonderful. We should all stop making assumptions and buying into them without evidence.

I often cringe when people speculate because soon that speculation becomes "fact". That is a bad thing. And trust me I've done it too or catch myself doing it still sometimes.
