I Don't Like It!!! Report this review

I thought this would be a nice coin trick but I noticed that people figure it out easily. Also the quality of the coin are well... not that good b/c I noticed the silver coating peels off over time. I strongly don't recommend it, get the scotch and soda - now, that's a coin trick worth getting.

Save some money and buy Hopping Halfs. I was planing to get the Hopping Halfs but Penguin was out of stock so I got these but I do not like this because only the one part is examinable. So it lost 2 stars the other star is lost because they are noisey.

I like it...but.

The only reason I bought this was because a friend is going to be doing a haunted house with a pirate theme. I wanted to do some coin stuff to occupy people while they were waiting, and I figured I would go with a hopping half routine with coins that fit more with the pirate theme.

This would be the only reason that I would recommend this trick.

Gold & Silver is hopping halves with different coins. If you can do hopping halves, you can do this.

Quality: 5/10

The coins jingle. Loudly. You will need to find a way to hold them so they don't jingle. I believe this can be done, but for the price you should not have to. I would only recommend this trick if you want a hopping halves for a particular kind of show where coins of this style would be more appropriate than a hopping halves set.

Ease of Learning: 7/10

I did a low number because in order to get this to work well, you are going to have to re-learn how to manipulate the coins so they don't jingle. This will take some practice.

Price: 7/10

The coins, for the cost, are expensive. They need to be made to much tighter tolerances. If this were done, this would be on a par with hopping halves, but as it stands, it is just a knockoff that should be avoided unless you are going for a particular look. And because I wanted a particular look, I bought them. But once the event is over, this trick will languish until the next themed party/event where I can use them again.

Its Still good for Kid Shows Report this review

The Coins are very fake looking, however made sturdy. It's not the same as Scotch and Soda (which is a wonderful trick). This trick will work great with the kids 14 and under or in a bar for adults, but I wouldn't perform it for any other settings. If you're new to coin tricks, I'd save a few bucks and buy Scotch and Soda.

I bought this for my nephew as he has always admired my presentation of the Hoping Half. The workmanship and quality of this particular set is very poor! The coins would be hard to present as real coins.
I have been performing the hopping half (the original version of this remake)around the world and it's affect on the audience is the same regardless the country.
I suggest if interested in this kind of effect, spend the extra and get the real McCoy.

This is a really good coin trick for beginners and experts alike. The trick is pretty visual and requires no slight of hand. You do exactly what it says you do. You show plainly two coins and take out out and cleanly put it into your pocket and it appears back in your hand. Do this a few more times and again, with no slight of hand, they just keep coming back. Finally, you take ONE coin, and cleanly show that it is only one coin and put it in your pocket and suddenly the other one disappears. This trick is very similar to a trick called Hopping Halves but uses some nice looking coins. If you like doing coin magic, this is a good one to own.

If your just starting to build your coin magic arsenal, then I'd start with Scotch and Soda before purchasing Gold and Silver. Scotch and Soda uses realistic coins - and appears more natural and believable because of them.

But if your looking for coin effect #2 or #3 I'd go with Gold and Silver for one very good reason. It's much easier and faster to reset than most gimmick coins are. You can walk to another crowd and be ready to go almost instantly instead of slinking off somewhere to reset your coins.

I dissagree with those who say this trick is not examinable... you can easily adapt your routine to allow the spectator to handle one of the coins briefly which seems to satisfy most people I show it to. Besides, you should always be ready to move onto another effect anyway - which helps you regain control of your audience.

Gold and Silver is a nice, well manufactured product that should last you for many years to come.

I bought this trick about 2 months ago and have been astounding people everyday. I bought it at a local magic store for ten dollars more though! Buy it from here. I know you'll like it!
