First, please understand that I am neither a Penguin rep nor spokesman. That being said, my best guess is that it was indeed first marketed at a reduced, introductory price to get some early reviews and sales traction. Judging by the current 49 reviews and #1 ranking on the Penguin bestseller list, it appears that this strategy worked in spades. I don't think that $9.99 is at all unreasonable for this effect, and it's on my wish list for my next order, when I get up to the $50 threshhhold for the free shipping. Good job Rick Lax!
