I don't get it. The Cooler. How is that supposed to fool anyone?

I'm watching the preview.
Loose deck of cards atop card case.

Performer reaches down,
and it looks NOTHING like the same
deck remains there.

It looks like the performer
visually pulled the case up through
the deck of cards.
It looks magical, visual,
but what do you say to the spectator who says,
"Whoa! You just lifted the box right through
the deck of cards! That was amazing! I saw the box penetrate through all 52 cards with my own eyes. How do you do that??"

I want the deck switch to be invisible.
This looks weird, like a special effect CGI
"Card Case thru Deck Penetration."

Thank you for your answers to my question.

I'm familiar with misdirection.
For example, I've been performing Homing Card Plus,
from Card College 2, since 2007 (for 8 years).
In that routine, performer shoves the entire deck in his
pocket right under the nose of the audience.
It's one of the staples in my close-up act.

I also have performed Card under Spectator's Drink
3 times in a row for the same spectator.

However, in the above 2 examples, I misdirect AWAY FROM
the dirty/hot zone.
In the Cooler, both answers to my question say that the misdirection is picking up the card case,
which the deck of cards is sitting on top of.

How is that misdirection?
if I'm directing their attention to the exact spot
that looks suspect?

Timing is the key here. To them, it has to look like you just are putting the card box in your pocket because when you did the dirty deed, they were directed at the cards on the table etc. It's called "misdirection". Read up on it. It is a powerful tool.

You are 100 percent right, they can't be staring at the deck while you do the deck switch that's why you need to misdirect them with the natural movement of picking up the box.(or some kind of misdirection to distract them for that split second)
