Escape Jacket Question

Is the straightjacket a standard magic prop or is it an authentic restraining device? It looks absolutely beautiful! I am versed in escaping from an authentic jacket so do not need the "help". I am looking at replacing mine as it is getting worn out. I would prefer to get an authentic jacket, but am intrigued by the extra DVD set from Dixie Dooley.
