Regarding Lucid by Roddy MvGhie, have a couple questions.

1) To vanish a card or dollar bill, does the card or bill have to be altered in any way before putting it into the bag? In other words, can the spectator pick ANY card from a deck, give it to me, I load it into the bag, and then make it vanish?

2) For a card switch, same question: are alterations necessary on the cards?

3) Is any sleight of hand or palming necessary? In one review, the magician said palming a card is necessary, but he did a routine where he secretly placed a card on the table while making a card vanish in the bag, giving the impression the card traveled from the bag to the table. I don’t intend on doing that traveling routine.
