Razor swallowing reactions

Hi,

I was wondering if it's normal to have a relatively... silent reaction to razor swallowing. In the moments leading up to the razors going into the mouth, people were already getting uneasy, right down to screams of "NOPE NOPE NOPE" when the blades went in. When they came out, the audience was dead quiet. A bunch of people had their eyes wide open, and then the audience just went into applause.

Is this a normal reaction to razor/needle swallowing for those of you that do it? I find that other stuff such as card tricks, sponge magic, or silverware bending have gotten much louder reactions in the past. Or is this possibly a presentational issue?

As this is such an extreme effect it seems like the 'shock reaction' you were getting is about right.

Most people are used to card tricks and other standard magic effects so when you do something like this they are't sure how to take it. I'd say chalk it up to success, this is the kind of thing people will definitely remember.
