There was a previous version, Poker Test 1, and I believe that the Poker Test 2.0 came out at the end of calendar year 2013.
Although there are some negative (1 star) reviews back in 2014, to be fair, there are also many positive (4 & 5 star) reviews for that year too.
I don't know of any specific problems encountered with the trick during that time.
Doing a quick review of those negative comments, it seems that they refer to 'handling issues' which sometimes occur with people not familiar with the roughing spray/card combination.
Anyway, fast forwarding to present day, PT2.0 is a fun little trick.
Yes, it's easy to learn, perform, and it gets great reactions.
Yes, the cards need to be retouched with 'roughing' if you perform the trick frequently...simply, it just wears away.
No big deal...just re-treat the cards and you're good to go.
In the training video, Eric even shows you how to retouch, or make a new set of cards if that is what you prefer.
More importantly, the latest, most current reviews from 2015 & 2016 are overwhelmingly positive. If there was a problem in 2014, it seems to have been addressed.
Best wishes
