I am a working professional.
I purchased this at full price (over $200). I thought it was
going to be great. When I tested it, it didn't work. At home it worked ok, but when I tried to
perform a routine in front of an audience, too much time went by between setting up the cards and
then revealing them. (About an hour) The cards wouldn't change all the way. I was standing there
with the big card holder in one hand, pulled the card out with the other hand and it didn't work.
I'm stuck there with both hands full and can't really turn the card around. I started tapping the
card against my body to assist the faulty mechanism. That looked terrible and that happened 4 times
in the routine. Once for each card I pulled out.
Basically, if it's set up early, it won't
work.
Also, when I wrote on the cards, the writing was solid, dark, and perfect. Later,
when the cards were revealed, they looked half erased. White spots here and there with some lines
missing. I thought it looked cheap and crappy. Maybe I would have to write over it a few times when
setting it up. I don't know.
The magical properties of the changing cards might be usable
for something in the future, but for the most part, the routine I bought it for does not look good
enough to be in my stage show without looking like a cheesy piece of junk.
The price for
this unreliable, unprofessional, and practically unusable prop is absolutely ridiculous. It is only
laminated cardboard. It will wear out just like a deck of cards. If the instructions include how to
repair the unreliable thing, that obviously tells you something.
I'm so disappointed. I'll
have to make this thing work for me in some other way somehow because I can't just throw away over
$200 just to find out about how bad something can be.
I have NEVER given a negative review
in my life, but I feel that now I must warn my fellow magicians. I read the positive reviews and I
just can't believe that any working pro would want to show this prop in their act.
Beware
of this!
