These have been definitely worked in the real world. The only concern I have is that some of the instructions were not correct or not clear; they either left out or forgot certain details. I can only reason it by English not being his first language, it can be thought out easily. And I think he may be left handed by some of the instructions. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. My first time buying a Vernet book, would do it again.
