No, you don´t need a full deck, just make sure you have the cards you want to name out loud, the rest of the deck doesnt have to be a full one.
Regarding the memorization, it is very very easy, you dont have to remember cards or suites.

I does not have to be a bicycle deck either. Just a Bicycle Guarantee Joker is used. For those that have the trick I think you will figure out how to use a different deck
My memory is horrible. I am known for making changes to classic effects that require memorization so that they involve little to none. This trick could be an example of what I would do to limit memorization. If I can remember what little has to be memorized in this, just about anyone can. It is genius!

the fact you guys keep mentioning the joker leads me to believe it works as a legend of sorts. Like the letters represent the cards. perhaps you verified buyers should stop mentioning this as to expose the effect. I haven't bought it and this is just my 2 cents
