I have to disagree with the two posted reviews, with the caveat that not everyone will love this.
It's not perfect and obviously some are going to hate it as well, however it's gotten very good
reviews from most real review sites. It's not a trick you can just pick up and perform. The handling
will take a little practice to do correctly, you'll have to pay attention to angles and to lighting
and you'll probably need some audience management skills. The payoff though is an illusion that
floors people in their tracks. Unless you're telegraphing what you're doing, the effect is over and
done before specs know what has hit them. While some have thought it's not a walk around trick, It's
more than workable in close up as long as you're not six inches away and paying attention to
surroundings. It flat out kills live, I haven't had a problem yet. People flip out. With a little
thought you can get around even using part of the gimmick which simplifies the presentation
dramatically. The quality of the gimmick is fine. It won't last forever because it's a piece of
pasteboard but it will last for a very long time unless you're a bull in a china shop. The secondary
part of the gimmick can be easily altered to fit clothing with some ingenuity to make it less shiny
if that's worrisome to you as a few purchasers have noted.
There's a nice video review
posted in the Magic Cafe that shows a tremendous alternate handling and mixed with a few other
effects for a great routine. I can't really think of a way to determine if you will like this or
not. If you're looking for a trick you can do anywhere at anytime, you might be disappointed. This
isn't that and it isn't meant to be. If you like Lawrence's thinking and other effects you'll
probably be pleased by this as well. I can't think of a comparable trick, but as an example if you
found Imprint to be unworkable or too knacky then you probably won't like this either but if you
like that then you'll probably love this. Both are insanely visual and if you take the time to make
them work you'll destroy people.
