If you want to learn a good way to present standard effects, you will learn from this video. I do not feel it is a lecture, more of a chat. (I did love how they would turn around in their seats like they were going to watch video)

No effects are taught in this "lecture" as the only effects Jayson does is marketed effects. I have no problem with that BUT it would have been nice to know ahead of time. I would not of bought this one. I am really becoming gun shy with Penguin because this is the 3rd or 4th time I bought a lecture and got a chat. It's a shame.

I appreciate your review, but I do have one question... You said you are becoming gun shy because too many "lectures" are "chats"... While I understand where you are coming from, I'm not sure why you purchase them on day one. I wait a few days, then read the reviews and determine if it's for me or not. That may really help you as well, so you get an idea of what you are going to see. Penguin had a great community of people that offer reviews on the products, and usually I find more than a few viewpoints. Seems like they may "edit" the less flattering ones as I have bought a few tricks that had rave reviews, and when I got it I thought WTF is this POS! But as far as the lecture reviews, they do give a good sense as to what you should expect. Just wanted to toss in my thoughts and maybe help you out. Keep enjoying the art!

Spend your money on grammar lessons.
At least we won't have to see you on Penguin, complaining about the obvious facts that everyone else already expected from a lecture with a self professed AMATURE.
You've got so much to work to do concerning the English language, you'll be busy for quite a while.

If you're going to criticize someone's poor grammar, you should probably look after your "amateur" spelling skills.

In addition - I do agree with the original poster. I've purchased MANY live lectures from Penguin, and plan to continue to do so. Sometimes it isn't abundantly clear whether it's going to be primarily a teaching lecture or a conversation. Both have their value. And while one solution is to wait until reviews exist, you then are denied the ability of participating live (and receiving a $5 discount).

I enjoyed this chat for what it is - especially as an enormous Seinfeld fan - but it wouldn't be a terrible idea to come up with two brands for these videos. One could be a lecture, the other a conversation. That is quite easily done and would seem to solve the problem.
