I've heard so many great things about this book, I was really excited to read it. I guess if you
need 19 versions of Oil and Water, then this book is for you. (No joke, there are 19 versions of
Oil and Water in this book. Overkill, anyone?) If you're interested in magic theory...well, not so
much. Tamariz's theory of false solutions is...kind of obvious, really, even to a beginner. If you
want thought provoking essays that will actually help you to improve your magic, try Darwin Ortiz or
Tommy Wonder's books.
I'm know many would disagree, but I think the Spanish school of magic
is much over-hyped, Juan Tamariz even more so, especially after reading this book.
The 19 oil and water versions are meant to serve as an illustration for the theory of the Magic Way. The book is not called, "19 Oil and Water Variations," it is called, "The Magic Way." You're not paying for the oil and water, you are paying to learn about this theory. He uses these effects to analyse and point out how to apply his theory. Critiquing a book for what the book is not really about is not only unfair, but it shows you missed Tamariz's whole point.
