I purchased this from Roddy directly, and now I bought a backup from Penguin. This has gone to the top of my list of things I've picked up in the last year. It's probably in my top five tricks of all time. It's essentially angle proof, easy to do (with a little practice, naturally) and never fails to get a good reaction. When you erase the little door the spectator's view of reality is shattered. They have entered into a Road Runner cartoon and are usually speechless. This is the kind of trick that makes me love the art of magic.

Steve, I just purchased this from penguin but I noticed you said you bought a back up. I'm going to assume the gimmick can get worn and needs to be replaced eventually. If so, can you make the gimmick yourself?

It will last for years if not for life. Most pros want a back up prop in case of emergency though!

@Popos562...
You've said it perfectly ;-)
As with all gimmicks, replacement will be necessary "eventually". These gimmicks are very well constructed and with normal usage and care, will last for years.
Could it fail sooner? Of course, it could, but not very likely.
Good news tho...other than the beginner craftsman, you can make the "door" gimmick yourself.
In fact, I've made two so that I now have 3 different peek cards for situations where I may want repeatability with an alternate card view (peek).

Is this trick repeatable and does it have to be the same card?

Thanks

tmonty How can you make something that you don't even have and have no experience doing? Why don't try actually buying the trick instead of stealing it and making some half-assed substitute that you "think" is the same.

sirbrad I made one and it works perfectly.I've been performing magic a lot longer than you I'm sure,Iam 70 years old.It's not stealing if you figure it out and make your own.I'm sorry if you are not very creative.maybe you should try another hobby.

So I did purchase this Illusion... got a pretty darn good idea how its done. I see the load and the dump. I would like to know is the gimmick set up for the same card every time or can you switch it out to show the trick using another card?

Tmonty. You suggest that you have been performing magic for a long time so I would therefore expect you to be aware that the magic community as a whole does consider this kind of behaviour "stealing".
It's this attitude that discourages many creative magicians from sharing their ideas. The short demo video I shot was my attempt to present an honest and direct performance of the effect.
It was not intended to be a tutorial.

Tmonty. While you technically could create your own you did get your “idea” from someone else. You could create your own yeah, but if you’re actually gonna be performing it it’s best to buy from the original creator. The magic community has to rely on trust a lot of the time. No one is patenting the product, but just because you can figure out how it’s done doesn’t mean you should be using it like it’s your own. Who knows maybe what you think it is really isn’t it at all! Maybe Roddy’s version is better or maybe it’s yours! You’ll never know unless you give it a try! Don’t you wanna support the person that gave you the idea in the first place?
