I have been doing card tricks since I was 9 and I know a lot of basic moves. I am no where near pro level as I am only a hobiest at best however I watched the whole video and I still don't get it. The move he uses is not clearly explained and I am not even sure what is supposed to be happening. Maybe I was watching a different video or the rest of you already have a basic understanding of a shufel I don't know anything about, but I was so lost. Don't buy this unless you are a card pro who already knows a lot of moves because you probably won't get what he is talking about either. What a waste of money for me.

Hi Tony. You certainly seems to have been watching a different video...
Seriously now. Let me see if I can help.
I am also a hobbyist. But by no means the techniques used are "pro".
The only two moments where I guess you can get lost are a jog shuffle and a straddle faro (a simpler form of faro shuffle).
Regarding the first one, close to end of the video, Paul explains a very easy alternative to avoid it. So easy that, when I feel lazy, I use it...
Re the straddle faro I am sure that you can find it in many forums, books, etc.
Hope this is of help. I wish you can enjoy this brilliant effect as much as some others we seem to do..
All the best,

I'm sorry you are lost, Tony...but,I think I'm a good teacher and I've just re-watched the download myself. I thoroughly teach everything you need to know. Please rewatch it. Many thanks, Paul Gordon

I am one of Penguin's top buyers according to them. I did not buy this effect from Penguin but directly from the UK from a different supplier. I'm quite sure this effect is on Paul Gordon's Gold Dust DVD collection that I reviewed as being platinum stuff. Glad to see you on Penguin Paul. Now I don't know Paul from Adam as the expression goes. I'm just a schmuck on wheels from Upstate NY but I think a pretty good performer in my own right. Paul Gordon has some fantastic, workable stuff, including Pro Aces. I wish his DVD collection was available on Penguin. The investment in anything that Paul has to offer is invaluable to the working card guy, even the hobbyist. Check out Paul's stuff. I equate him to Pop "Whit" Haydn in terms of his card knowledge and personality- both different but both equally engaging. Paul has other even less technical stuff that blows the laymen and magicians away. I was a working magician for over 20 years when I stumbled upon Paul's work and have since added several of his effects in my working repertoire. Kudos!!!!!! I am a disciple.

Thank you zaknsam for your kind words and support. I'm very pleased you like my magic. Yes, Pro Aces is on Gold Dust Live and originally called Easy Ace Estimation by me some 30 years ago. For some unknown reason, Penguin renamed it Pro Aces. Anyway, all the best. Paul Gordon

I feel awful on my purchase of this trick. What are you suppose to do? Have such an exceptional touch in your finger tips that you could count cards from the top of the deck. You would have to be able to cut the deck at an exact number from the top of the deck. No! This would take an extreme expert in card handling. It would also take months and months of practice to get these moves down. You'd have to ask yourself. Is it worth it??? I don't think so.

Donald, I just no joke spent the 30 minutes watching the video, practiced with the straddle faro for about 10 minutes and then did the trick perfectly right after. I was smiling the whole time. It's so much easier than you would think.

Paul Gordon is a great teacher, I DO confirm it! English is not my native language because I'm Russian. But I studied English at University. And even I have learned Paul's "Pro Aces". It's really not so difficult as it looks ;). It's a brilliant trick, just one of my most favorite tricks with 4 Aces. Paul's instructions are all so clear you just can't go someway wrong with them. Thank you Paul Gordon for your MAGIC and best wishes to you!

I learned to faro BECAUSE of this routine. It took me a few weeks to get it down perfect constantly, sure, but it's nowhere near "pro level".

Also, everything was taught very concisely and clearly. You don't need to count cards to cut to an exact number. Paul is very clear on how to cut to the aces. If you have a faro, you'll be performing this in no time at all.

If you don't have a faro, you'll be performing this as soon as you get it down. It's a killer routine, at a killer price, and as far as difficulty goes? 2/5.

I can attest, the faro move is hard and will take practice. With that said, after 2 straight days of practice (more than I've probably put into most tricks, besides Long Distant Spinner) I was able to consistently perform the faro straddle. The payoff is PHENOMINAL. I love doing this trick, anytime, anywhere, borrowed deck. Just a tip - I used a lot of Youtube tutorial videos to help me with the faro straddle.
