An extremely efficient, practical, easy and stunning approach to the classic "Cards Across" plot for close-up or stage conditions

Effect: Four red-backed cards are displayed; they're counted and held by a spectator

Another set of blue-backed cards is shown, and a second spectator simply thinks of any one. The packets are held by the spectators, who stand far apart from each other.

With the utmost fairness, the mentally chosen card vanishes from the blue packet and appears in the red!

Includes detailed, 16-page booklet written by Phil Goldstein and fully-illustrated by Tony Dunn and the seven specially-printed cards on Bicycle stock that make this effect possible.

A very easy trick and a very nice handling! This is one of my favourite packet tricks and it's great fun to perform. I actually prefer this to Blaine's cards across routine.

I've giving this a one because of a blatant lie in the description. The 2nd spectator does NOT "simply think of any one" card. It is NOT a "mentally chosen" card. You physically force the spectator's card.

Also, the fact that this card will then appear in the other spectator's packet will not be very surprising at all to any spectator who has been paying attention.

If you still think this is a good effect, be aware that it is also available in Goldstein's "Focus" book, along with 59 other packet tricks. You don't get the gaffed cards, and honestly, one of them will be pretty hard to find or make otherwise. But for me, no great loss.

it is a card across trick based on a clever illusion.

the cards are not examinable, but the illusion created is fantastic.

it is a simple and direct routine, and the gimmick has no moving parts
