From the pages of MAGIC Magazine to your TV screen, the "Talk About Tricks" DVD Box Set is one of the most eclectic, unexpected collections of magic and magicians ever captured on DVD.

The concept is simple: Joshua Jay writes the critically-acclaimed "Talk About Tricks" column every month in MAGIC Magazine, and this set is the column come-to-life! Every month, Joshua Jay features original effects from the world’s greatest magicians. There are hundreds of fantastic tricks buried in those pages. Now we can finally see how great these tricks look at performance speed.

From close-up to parlor, from cards to Q-tips, from money to mentalism, from easy to difficult, this collection boasts over seven hours of the best magic ever published in "Talk About Tricks." Better still, many of these effects are performed live by their originators. See magicians Felipe Abreu, Paul Cummins, Joel Givens, Rune Klan, John Lovick, Raj Madhok, Rick Maue, Francis Menotti, and more, all performing and explaining their creations. You’ll also see magic created by Eric Buss, Bob Farmer, Martin Gardner, Larry Jennings, Ed Marlo, David Parr, Gaston Quieto, David Solomon, Gregory Wilson, and dozens more!

This box set boasts over seven hours of close-up magic from the industry’s leading thinkers. Hosted by magic performer, author, and lecturer Joshua Jay, you don’t want to miss out on the most comprehensive, exhaustive DVD release of the year!

Originators of all the tricks are credited in parentheses. (Performers are introduced on the actual DVD.)

Hi! This is your official PenguinMagic reviewer, B_Magic.

GET IT. BUY IT. ADD TO CART. MAKE IT HAPPEN. This is a good one.

My only complaint was the flow of the DVD at times. It felt a little boring at times, and like many magic DVD's, there's a lot of side-talk that happens with people during the explanations of tricks that can be a little annoying when you're trying to learn an effect. When I'm in learning mode, I just want to see the mechanics, and not hear about thoughts, feelings, stories, and all the other babble some of these DVD's can at times do during the lesson. And unfortunately, with this one, you can't just skip past with a click on your next scene button.

The effects are really good, however, in particular I really enjoyed the 3 phase oil and water routine that's on disc 1 I believe. It's a good one! Definitely worth the purchase for a great grab bag of magic effects!

Why get 1 effect , when you can get 7 hours.crammed with tricks.joshua Jay's any card at any page is worth the 40 bucks alone. !!! I mean he is a true thinker of magic. Loved almost all his effects. The mustache book was so darn funny.i split a rib or two ! Buy this now.and learn the effects . only downside.not all magicians will own the props needed.but they might. Some need to be made.like the acaap. But 10$ will buy it

Maybe the best set of DVD's I own. There is stuff on here other than card routines, which is a bit of a downer for me, but the material is so good. A must buy.

One of the Best DVD Sets Ever Report this review

Wow. This DVD set is what I would consider to be one of the best DVD sets I have ever had the pleasure of watching. There is such a massive variety of material. As a card guy, I'll focus more on the card stuff. All of the material is usable, practical, and commercial. Usually, if I'm watching a multi-trick DVD, I'll pick up one or two that I think are suitable for my needs. In contrast, literally almost EVERY trick in this DVD is fantastic! I absolutely love this DVD set, and I'll be holding onto it and re-watching it over and over again for many years to come.

I love the tricks on these three DVDs. My favourite are all the tricks on the oil and water, impromptu hit man and my other lady's ring. Don't hesitate, by this set. There are a lot of moves, which I was wary of, but its not just moves, there's little tricks, imbetweeners and other little things to help improve your tricks. A great buy/

First of all This Dvd is a Good buy, I can say I will use quite a few of the effects off it.
The Explanations are done well and I understood them all.
a lot of the tricks do Require a table and some....the use of Gaffed cards.
A lot of these tricks are good for openers,as most need deck prep before the trick starts.
A couple of the Tricks only have only the Performance and no Explanation which I think is Pointless.
I am suprized at how many good tricks there are on this dvd.
Worth it, but not quite a 5 star.

I have only watched the first disk and thats all I need to know, the effects on this DVD are amazing, some of the impromptu card effects are gold dust, especially the oil and water and 242 effects. Some of the explanations are a little vague at times in terms of explaining techniques, however they do credit and reference other magicians works where to find certain move in more detail. This DVD for me is up there with Dan and Dave Trilogy!
