Of all the Reel Magic Magazine's I own, this one isn't my favorite. I highly respect Mike Caveny as a human being, and as a Magician. He's very smart, and has a lot of knowledge about Magic. I had very high hopes for this, but those were rejected.

The interviews in Reel Magic are always great. I can't say this one was though. Usually they sit down and talk for 30-40 minutes, but in this one it was maybe 20, plus the museum tour. That was the best part. It's really cool to see some old pieces of magic's past time. If you like that kind of stuff, then by all means, you might like this segment.

The regular segments are pretty good. Simon Lovell tells a lot about business cards which is cool. However, the rest of the other segments weren't that great

The tricks taught were nothing special. A card to matchbox which is highly impractical. A pretty cool card to mouth which was interesting. And then an old trick from Bobo's Modern COin Magic. The teaching was less than great

Finally, MOVE MONKEYS. This is usually MY favorite part of the DVDs, as well as others. But again I was a little let down with them. The Reno Change was terrible performed and sub-parly taught. Mark Tams' routine was pretty good. It's not something I would do, but if you like rope magic that is original and looks good, you will be interested in it. And finally Geoff Williams' worthless little blackhand catch (in my opinion). There isn't that much of a time that you can really use this and he doesn't teach anything really.

So other than that, I give the DVD a 4 for production value and the little good things about this. But it's not as good as some of the others out there

Not the best episode of Reel Magic but still a good one. Regal's reviews are probably the best thing on this DVD, although Garett's pinky palm is worth watching too.
