This DVD is amazing and focuses on the simpler easier effects. I have yet to order Lee Smith’s Step System volume 2. But I decided to purchases Nicholas’ Ring Flight today instead. Next week Lee…next week :D

Effects:
Ice Breaker
Lee's 3 Phase opening routine. Cards jump from hand to hand, vanish and appear in impossible places! : -----Wow oh wow. Impromptu and easy to do. Uses a sleight that most magicians should be comfortable with. This effect has a Transposition feel without the extra..you know what. There is a reason it is called Ice Breaker, it is hard hitting. From a shuffled deck. The ending is killer using 2 selections each from a different spectator. An effect that is 3 phases for a reason, they’ll say ..do it again!10/10

Walkaround 2 Cards to Pocket
Two cards are lost in the deck, then found and then they swap places. Snappy, fast and a real attention grabber. -----This effect is kind of close to the method of Trans-box-ition. And that isn’t a problem I just won’t be performing these two effects in one set. I’ve been looking for a card to pocket effect, this is the one I will be using forever This effect is very practical. I perform it now on a day to day basis. Has a transposition feel at the end. The last phase is clean clean clean. I love this. 10/10

Trans-box-ition
One of Lee's signature tricks being explained for the first time. An awesome routine in which a card jumps under the card box not once but twice and even escapes a spectator's hand. A third phase ends with the ENTIRE DECK UNDER THE BOX. Best of all its easy to do! -----Credited to James Brown for one method in the routine. This is a killer effect I did at a get together and I got the best reactions ever from this effect. Has a transposition at the end just like in 2 Cards to Pocket and the timing is perfect and nobody should be scared to perform this. It uses Ollie’s move that is really..worth the price of the DVD. The first phase of this the card turns over in the pack which is really impressive, just like the walk around 2 cards to pocket. The ending with the entire deck under box is optional and easy to do. I‘m getting some much mileage out of this one DVD. 10/10

You Keep Mine
A superb multi-phase routine that ends with the spectators signature jumping from their card to one that has your business details on the back. The perfect giveaway that's sure to get you more bookings. -----I don’t have business cards because I do magic for a hobby, this is decently impressive way to hand out your details. It starts as you revealing you knew that they were going to pick the card they stopped you at by pulling out a mate card and going from there. I wasn’t blown away from this trick but I can see that the method itself can be used for other things that makes me like it so much. 10/10. Nothing wrong with. Lee is giving you a way to hand out your details in an impressive manner

Bold Business
An amazing feat of mind power. Leave the spectator thinking you really can read minds! A miracle using nothing more than a marker pen and some business cards (again worth the DVD). ----Another way of handing out your details in a very impressive manner, reading their minds! This is an effect from Patrick Kuffs, a design duplication using business cards. Perfect and killer. Now I wish I had business cards. 10/10

Third Degree
Three cards are chosen, one even imagined. All three are revealed in progressively harder ways until the magician reveals that the thought of card has been in their hands right from the start. A masterpiece of audience management and psychology. ----This effect has a very thought of card feel to it and goes from a beginning to end going back to the beginning. This is the grande finale of the DVD. The end has a thought of card transpo feel. I guess Lee must love transpositions. Man this guy knows how to make some good easy magic. The performance footage of this shows Lee slaughtering the audience with this effect. 10/10



Price: $35

Teaching: Russ directs these videos and he does a great job. For each effect you get a bar/sit down setting performance for a live audience which helps out in the end for seeing how well the effects plays out to a real audience. So quality was great and audio was clear. Lee Smith sits down with a friend of RSVP‘s and goes through asking questions throughout his teaching which helps a lot. Lee gives you a step by step to each of the effects. I really love his style, I never really had to rewind the dvd.


Difficulty: In my opinion this material is really easy. Each effect is streamlined with very simple sleight and very little misdirection is used.

Applications: All the material you see here could be put in a professionals repertoire. All this material is 100 percent commercial. All the tricks are straight from a shuffled deck! I learned a move from Ollie that I will use for the rest of my life as well as effects I can do when somebody hands me their own deck and tells me to do a trick.
Overall Rating:
10/10. This DVD is literally perfect for me. The teaching is great and I got tons of mileage from just this one DVD. Having effects you will perform for the rest of your life is priceless. Commercial, easy magic. Of course you are asking, “ How can a DVD get a 10/10? That is impossible?”. Well… this DVD is just perfect. I give it my highest recommendation.
