Heritage - An unbelievable storytelling routine, that creates an unforgettable experience in any environment.

Perform it in an intimate close-up setting or even on stage, Heritage will be a solid addition to your repertoire. It fits in your pocket, yet it provides 8 minutes of mystical entertainment.

The story is about a gambler, who had some strange habits. He had a favorite blackjack hand and a lucky poker chip. He always started to play at the same time of the day, and bet the same amount of money.

  • The spectator is asked to name a bill of any denomination. It is a free choice.
  • The performer then takes a deck of cards, and starts to deal the cards one by one. The spectator can stop at any two cards; again, it is a free choice.
  • The spectator gets to choose from four different colored poker chips. He does so freely again.
  • Finally, the spectator sets a random time on a watch.
Now is the time for the miracle to happen. The spectator is invited to open the envelope on the table. Inside is a photograph. On the photograph is the exact same denomination bill, the lucky poker chip, the same two cards and a pocket watch, set to the exact same time, as by the spectator. Your spectator brought the story to life, by making free choices throughout the routine, which somehow match the photograph exactly.

An interactive, unforgettable experience that is designed to leave an impression.

Key points to remember:
  • The envelope is completely UNGIMMICKED
  • Can be done with up to 4 spectators
  • Instantly repeatable
  • Packs small, plays big - this time for real!
  • Perform it right out of the box. Everything except a regular deck of cards is included. We have a feeling, you have one at hand.
  • Perfect for close-up, parlor, table hopping or stage
  • 8 minutes in your pocket - ideal for professionals

I don't like to give bad reviews so I rate this one with a caveat - being - all magic, in the right hands, has the potential of being great. This one as is.... not so much. It uses some classic techniques to support the routine and story that are fairly simple to do so it can be a great beginners trick - sort of.

One step in the routine is not explained very well at all and the buyer is let to their own to figure out how to make it work. If you're experience you can manage - but a new magician will struggle here.

The presentation is very flat as well - that could be the language barrier but I'm sure it could be much more exciting - I would hope.

Any time you see an effect that only shows you glimpses of the routine, it could be a bad sign. Here, it is. Thinking of this as a budget version of "The Gambler", I purchased this effect. I should have gone with the original.

It's not that this is terrible. The volunteer truly does have a free choice of the currency used for the bet, but after that it gets a little sketchy. The blackjack hand chosen to match the photograph is a match in value only, not the exact cards. The poker chip choice could become so confusing the spectator thinks something is suspicious (there has to be a better way). The random time they go with doesn't break any new ground.

The thing that helps this effect a little is the routine itself. It does make sense and is a reasonably compelling story for them to follow. The overall execution of the effect leaves a bit to be desired. The price is fair for what you get (you need to supply your own deck of cards and a watch). I think this would be considered more of an mystery for the spectator rather than a miracle, but there is a time and place for those as well.
