This is definitely a show piece as much of a performance piece. If you are a collector, this is a
must have. As far as performance, it’s pretty straight forward. Box is very well made and easy to
incorporate into any routine. I’d recommend some sealing wax to protect the wood. Highly
recommended.
This is a very well made piece of kit. Very solid, great quality, and a very usable size for close
up or parlour magic. I’m really happy with this and would recommend it to others. The device is also
reassuringly strong.
I own a few different versions of the apparatus. They are all nice and accomplish the same effect of
course. Though they are all just a little different. What I like about this box is everything is a
bit bigger. The ring, the wand and the box itself. Where as the other versions of the box are small
and intended for the pocket and close up. This box would work well for parlor. The box has an
elegant bare wood design as well which is nice. Sometimes less is more and that is the case here.
Most versions of this box have felt inside, this one has black Formica. Which makes the rings
movement in the box very loud. At first I was a little put off by this but it actually can be
helpful as a convincer with this effect. Also the gimmick in the box is completely invisible and a
bit stronger than the other boxes. This is definitely the most "professional" looking version of the
box I've seen. One of the nice things about the Kenard box over most versions of the ring on rod
trick is that you start and end clean and can repeat the trick if necessary. I will probably always
favor my original mystery box put out by D. Robbins in the 60's but for a modern day performer in a
parlor type situation, this is definitely the box you want to purchase. The effect is easy enough
for anybody to do but like an great trick dedicated practice will help you get the knack and refine
the working of the box.
