Tom Elderfield is known as one of the first magicians to use the Instagram platform to show off his new creative work. From doing this Tom has gained a reputation for creating highly visual and crazy gimmicks with everyday objects. Already Tom has created tricks for some of the biggest TV magicians, traveled the globe showing his magic, and had multiple successful releases whilst still only being a teenager. For the first time, Tom has agreed to explain some of his fun and visual gimmicks that have never been taught before whilst keeping the lecture engaging with his youthful and fun performance style. A lecture not to be missed! Here's what you'll learn:

Listen Up: Borrowed headphones impossibly suspend up in the air. Take a ring off and put it around the headphones to prove no threads, the headphones drop on command and is instantly handed out.

Crossed Coffee: Take a Starbucks cup and mark an X in one of the boxes and it visually jumps up and down the boxes.

Color Changing Straw: Easy to make and do. Take a straw and visually change its color all the way around the straw. The straw can then be used.

Self Wrapping Wrap: Make a wrap for lunch. Then on the command, the wrap starts to roll itself up by itself and is then eaten.

Linking Cups: Take your mug and borrow a mug, visually and impossibly link and unlink the 2 mugs.

Double Take: A prediction of a card and the spectator is taken on their phone. A card is then picked and the prediction is wrong. The picture on their phone has then changed to match the card they picked. End clean.

Squish Box: As the box is being put away, it takes up too much space, the box then quickly for a short moment squishes down to half its size with the cards inside. Then stretched back out and the cards are used.

Tab Nation: Cool card box utility. An ink change, TNR and is very clean and easy on the opening tab of the box.

Mini Box Book Test: Read the back of the box, pick a word and remember it. The magician then crosses out one word. This then matches the word that was thought off.

Absolutely brilliant lecture! If you follow him on Instagram, that's the kind of magic he's teaching. Very visual and unique! Mostly done with everyday items that you can find very easily and in some cases, for free! Every effect he teaches is top notch and well worth every penny, plus everything is explained really well whilst managing to keep the pace going and not over-explaining points. I would highly recommend this lecture to anyone who likes magic with everyday objects and making cool gimmicks!

I have to say I really enjoyed this lecture Tom makes the lecture an absolute joy to watch he's a very funny kid, I feel this is worth it alone just because of how entertaining he is to watch.

The effects taught in this lecture are extremely visual eyecandy that would be great for social media content.

A few things in here aren't exactly things that you could work but would look really good on social media, having said that the methods to some of these can be adapted to things that are more practical, so a lot of these ideas will spark up your own creativity.

Some of my favorites from the lecture were...

1.) Tab nation: this is a really interesting effect and could actually be done live quite easily, it is a one time gimmick construction that will take you no more than two minutes to make It's really easy and has multiple different uses.

2.) Mini Box Book Test: this is something that I can see myself using quite a lot, this also has multiple different uses other than just the book test that he teaches and he does give a few extra additional uses for this method. This is something that again can be done live quite easily, the gimmick literally takes a few seconds to make, I really like this and will be using this for sure.

3.) Listen up: this is a really cool effect using headphones that I really like I'm a big fan of any effect that can be done with an organic item. Having said that they mentioned that you can do this with a borrowed pair of headphones which you can but I'm not 100% sure when most people might be in a situation where that's possible, I certainly don't find myself in those situations very often but you can always do it with your own pair of headphones and hand them out for inspection afterwards, again this does require a gimmick but it's fairly easy to make and depending on your performance environment you may have to consider a different way to construct the gimmick.

4.) Squish box: Tom himself said this was a rather silly idea and was more of just a throwaway idea which I can see why he would say that but at the same time I see some serious potential with this, if you played around with the gimmick you could actually use it for other things instead of just a squished box. Again the gimmick is actually really easy to make and will probably take you again about 2 to 3 minutes to make. I believe this is a perfect effect for that off beat moment when someone is maybe signing a card.

Overall I thought this was a really good lecture and although not everything in it is practical it really does give you a lot of food for thought and will really help to spark your own creativity.
I will give this 4 stars I knock off a star purely for the fact that not everything is practical.

Tom is one of my favorite creators. The lecture was full of fun, knowledge on how to make gimmicks that take your magic to a whole new level, craft engineering.
if you are into making gimmicks, then this lecture is 'butter chicken' for you :D .
Apart from LINKING CUPS and DOUBLE TAKE you can make all of the effects yourself at home right away after you purchase it.

Would have been great if they included the template of the SQUISH BOX gimmick.
