sharpie

Wayne has turned his attention to mentalism. Developing a brilliant yet simple utility device for the working mentalist.

It's a Sharpie that writes. Then when the mentalist/magician decides, doesn't write.

Or

It's a Sharpie that doesn't write. Then when the mentalist/magician decides, does write.

You decide!

Unlike any other gimmicked Sharpie pen on the market, you can show and use the pen as normal from the outset.

Then when you want to, hand it to the spectator -- it doesn't write. If it suits your working practice, you can do it the other way around.

You can even end up with the pen writing again!

Experienced mentalists will immediately recognize the value of such a tool, and will also welcome the simplicity of its manufacture.

Each Sharpie is carefully and lovely hand-made.

With handling notes from Mr. X himself, Marc Spelmann (Britain's Got Talent)

  • One pen
  • Always in sight of the spectator
  • Never switched for another pen
  • A myriad of uses
  • Always ready to use
It's another DTrik exclusive for discerning mentalists everywhere.

Useful mentalism utility device Report this review

This is a useful mentalism utility device based on an old principle that has stood the test of time. If you are looking for a hi-tech item, this isn't it. It has the simplest of designs--and requires a small amount of manual dexterity. But it does the job.

Now, how does this compare to Mental Pen, which is a similar device? With Mental Pen, you can only have the Sharpie not write and then write. (The spectator actually does the dirty work of making this happen.) One downside is that the Mental Pen, while well made, is fragile.

The Write, Not Sharpie, on the other, allows you to alternate writing and not writing at will. This comes at the small expense of handling and watching your angles. The the device is quite sturdy. But's more expensive than the Mental Pen.

Both the Mental Pen and Write, Not Right Sharpie get the job done. It all depends what you need.

Good prop but quickly made. Report this review

Just like every other gimmick I have ever purchased, I ended up crafting my own after recieving it. Both the ''write'' and ''don't write'' parts were writing like a brand new sharpy. No big deal but after I dryed up one of the two the other one started running out of ink immediatly. I guess I picked the wrong part. Its alright. Still a good blueprint for a crafting project. Quick delivery and good packaging like usual. Thanks Penguin!

Overpriced half *** release Report this review

I really feel penguin has misrepresented this overpriced utility.
The site says It comes with online instructions, I’ve read other places online video instructions. The instructions are nothing more than a pdf unless I’m missing something here? Which is strange because in order to get to the pdf instructions you’ll have to access and input an acces code into Vimeo which took me to a site that said videos are coming stay tuned once I had entered the access code yet again.
By the access code it is my assumption this effect was released in 2009 and never followed up with a single video let alone “videos”.
The prop isn’t any high tech and is about the same price a pack of sharpies Costs to construct. I don’t mind paying for quality Instructional videos if a prop can be made On the cheap and it lives up to its add copy but this feels like another run on our wallets by creators facilitated by penguin.
So you better be an experienced mentalist to find a use For this but then again if you were an experienced mentalists you’d have a Tool for this already I’m guessing.
