The magician threads two dice on two pieces of cord - the dice have holes drilled through them for that purpose. The cords are further secured by tying the cords around a small magic wand.

Despite the entire arrangement looking like a knotted, tangled mess, the wand and dice escape from the cords at the magician's command.

Easy to do. No sleight of hand required.

Manufactured in the USA.

I've known of and performed this effect for years. Found a version of it in an old Magic Shop in Sarasota-came with 2 colored dice and thin white shoelaces! Years later, came across a more in depth description/version in a John Mulholland book. According to him, the trick dates back to the Middle Ages-nearly as old as Cups and Balls. Was once a staple of Magicians performing for Royalty. So-a child can do it-with a plastic wand, strings and dice-AND an older performer may employ props and a presentation that lifts the entire up to an astonishing piece of theater. A version I've made uses old Chinese Coins and a Chopstick. Dante himself performed this on stage using smassistants and larger props. Once the principal is understood, the props can be enhanced in a number of ways. This is further proof that 'kid's tricks' are by no neans to be overlooked!

"Zip-Zip" is the name for Royal's version of the "Cords of Phantasia" done with special dice, strings and a mini magic wand. However, once you learn the method of "Zip-Zip" it can be applied to a variety of props, from borrowed finger rings and shoelaces done close-up to ropes, silks, and a cane for stage or parlor. A great routine for beginners and teaches an important magic principle. Highly recommended.
