I love the old Packs Flat, Plays Big series and this is no exception. Harlan's presentational style
doesn't fit me, but that shouldn't sway you from this DVD. I like the Rodeo and Shooting effects the
best. In my area, which is horse country, this plays well. I wouldn't advise doing this show
"as-is", but you could get 2 or 3 effects from this DVD and have some great material for your
Stand-Up show!

As with all the other DVDs in the Harlan "Packs Small, Plays Big" series, this is a fully pattered,
fully routined show of tricks and effects by Dan himself and other people.
This is the Stand Up With Cards volume, and probably my least favorite out of the set. Regardless, this is still a FANTASTIC DVD. Anytime you can find an original, pattered stage show, it is a good deal (especially one that deals only with cards!). Disclaimer: I definitely don't recommend stealing Dan's patter or the way he does any of these effects. I just have to say that having somewhere to start is ALWAYS good, especially if you don't have a show to begin with. Anyway, each effect is originally presented in front of a live audience (albeit L&L). Then, afterwards, you are taken in the back, into a studio where Dan proceeds to METICULOUSLY go over each effect. Even a beginner will have NO questions of how to do these effects, as Dan is an excellent teacher. Did this review help you?
