This collection has some hidden gems, but it has some stinkers too. Note that most of these tricks are more "magic" than "mental".

Some notable tricks:
Spirit Transpo: Dan does his own version with a notebook that's similar to one of his popular commercially-released tricks. Worth the price of the lesson alone.
Sightless Sight: A solid mentalism technique with good advice on how to create it today.
Addition Prediction: One of the worst tricks in the book, changed into a real baffler. It seems like the magician has no control over the numbers.
Triple ESP Prediction: A stinker which not even Dan can fix.
Mento-Pen: designed by a young David Copperfield, but very limited. The set-up for using this just baffles me -- "Think of something but don't tell me; instead, mark it down here in a strange way then remove the mark."

some very good bits here Report this review

I give this five stars not because everything in this volume is perfect, but because there are two, maybe three that are so good that I KNOW I will use them.

The first two effects are "qute"
Then there is three very good ideas. ABergson's none center tear" , "The spirit Transposition" and the "Overdrawn". I can see my self doing "overdrawn" in a family show with a kid as a helper. Nice thinking by Harlan here on adapting this principle to a different kind of routine.

Upon veiwing the segment of Every Trick In The Book, The effect Bergsons Non Center Tear is a Great Effect. Immediately after learning this mental effect I got out
my pack of card stock and made up 50 sets to use as one of my new mental effects. Thanks Dan, as always there is great information and training in every lesson.

DAN'S THE MAN Report this review

TARBELL is the master. Dan is the teacher, who explains it for everybody to understand. I've been a fan of his for years. When I watch his videos I sit taking notes. There were many tricks that Dan went through. I'm not into cards or slight of hand. So even though Dan makes it look easy, it is for him; I however, am into mentalism. SIX of the tricks he taught were outstanding. Some of my favorites were his crayon drawing switch with the little girl. The Cookie count and the Car Ad were my favorites. There were 3 more for me that were very impressive.
THE TEAM OF DAN AND TARBELL MEANS MAGIC. One final request, please someone use their magic to let the machine know we ARE HUMAN so we can submit our reviews. THANK YOU.

A nice variety here Report this review

There are a few stand out effects here... especially with Dan's take on them all. Loved the UNO routine and the magazine one. And the impromptu routine with the die is something everyone should have in their arsenal.

And, as usual, I'm sure Dan could make and market the cookie routine.

Some of the pieces could be standalone, but what makes this lesson stand out are the large number of methods that are used within the effects. Dan Harlan does a great job as always.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 7th, 2020
I loved this - definitely something for everyone. There were a few that just didn't seem to have the bang I was looking for, BUT, most of those were principals and it's easy to see how you could use those and create something else.

I’m finding this more helpful than I thought after seeing it for the first time I haven’t used it as of yet for I don’t perform anything unless it comes naturally it’s not right to perform something that you might give something up because you didn’t practice enough a lot in this course please take it seriously
