No way! People of all ages freak out to this one. Try performing a routine once and I'm sure you will be hooked!

In chatting with people when I perform, those people that had previously seen another strolling magician always mention, with wide-eyed amazement, a sponge ball routine as the trick they remember seeing. That final explosion of sponge balls out of someone's hand (not necessarily their own) is astonishing and memorable to all ages.

Um no, I have used sponge balls for 35 years now for adults and all age groups and people love them especially girls of any age. I use kids tricks in adult shows and retirement homes and they are work great I just change the presentation and how I speak. This is just a false stereotype created by over-thinking magicians.

Gosh(man), this is tricky. I guess they're not just for kids, but there is something childish about them. You can't deny that. I still do a sponge routine for adults, but I frame it as a juvenile piece. As long as you acknowledge there's something youthful about them, you should be good to perform sponges for any audience.

Eugene Burger once said that quitting smoking was easier than kicking the sponge ball habit.

I have to agree with him.

I have very little material that can elicit such strong reactions from real people than those little clown noses.

No! Not at all! All people love them. They are not just for kids. Just preform them and the audience will be hooked!

That's the Great part about Sponge Balls… they're Great for Any Age! It will skew whichever way the Audience want's it to. In fact… I had to quit using my "Blue" Sponge balls at Wedding because of all the "Blue Balls" jokes that Guests would throw out!

Let me say, although I'm late to this party, but several magicians of note have done sponge balls for adults, on a platform/stage setting. Look them up!

I use the sponge balls in my street performing and all ages are amazed by it I suggest learning several ways for a routine and once you are fluid with it you can start to create your own routine personally I do the classic routine and the benson bowl routine.

No it packs small yet plays big this dvd set is great for those new to sponge ball magic. as you progress in your knowledge check out the two books penguin magic has then daryls master class. often we see the same way of performing the same trick but the more you learn you can create your own routines. I have used the sponge ball routine in my street performing act now for over 5 years. if ever you need new sponge balls its cheap enough. I have earned my money back street performing that payed for the dvds and sponge balls several times over. the sponge balls appeal to all ages if I where to settle on a color I choose red because of its visibility on the street and stage.

I was a house performer at Houston's Magic Island for 17 years and before I turned mentalist in1998, I closed my closeup Magic show with a sponge ball routine.
Granted, it had a full story line and included music. But once I finished that routine, I had to close. Nothing could follow it up.
Sure, I was proud of my striking vanish and coin flurry routines, but...
You have to put your pride away and remember you are hired to entertain your audiences, not yourself.

mcdonaldization you are apparently very misguided. I did not know all my corporate gigs were ran by kids I will be sure to let them know that. However something can be said about an adult that is still a big kid at heart, such as myself, we tend to have a lot more fun in life and are a lot healthier and prosperous. People who think like you do are generally old, dull, miserable and boring.
