My 2 stars is for a very simple reason. The gimmick was not strong enough for the second phase of the trick. Most people instinctively know how this trick is done, which by no means makes this illusion bad. The teaching is simple yet effective and gives a great foundation to build on. HOWEVER an important part of the product depends on the strength of the gimmick keeping the ropes, while circular, appearing to be joined. Perhaps I received a defective product as others have not complained. It hearkens back to the old days when you sent away for a magic trick all excited about learning and performing it, only to find it defective and not working as shown. Now I blame myself partially for not immediately complaining for a refund or exchange.

Mr. Pei does a short routine with the ropes. He does not allow inspection of the rope before or after the trick because he can't. The clanging of metal rings, the apparent metal joining metal are replaced with nothing.

This is a great quality set... the teaching is very well done as well. This is very visual and could be easily added to any set for a rope routine.

This is a great set of ropes, high quality and the best part is the routine itself. The routine is great, jeremy's teaching is as good as it should be. You won't be disappointed.

When I saw this I wasn't very impressed with the colors of the rope. After I received it and watched the DVD, I understand completely why the choices were made. This is a great, high-quality set of linking ropes. It is made primarily for a stage or parlor set, though it could be done close up if you have enough background noise to overpower the "click" of the gimmicks. The design of the ropes allows you to handle them freely and the spectator can be fairly close and not see a thing, but they can hear them "talk" if you aren't careful.

The included routine is good, but brief. There are some great handling tips on here though, including a way to hand out all the ropes for examination beforehand so the spectators can see they are real (at least, that's the way it will look to the spectators). Jeremy goes into detail on the basic moves and his short routine, but the power of this effect will come from what you do with it. This is one you'll definitely need to tailor to your own personality and presentation in order to make it work. And doing this to music is almost a must.

These ropes are a blast, I have had so much fun with them. They are well made and will last a long time. DVD has excellent instructions. Probably not for the beginner, only because you should understand and preform linking rings first. I will still use the rings, there is room for both.
