"This trick fooled me; made me feel like a layman again!" - Doug Conn

"When Kyle showed me this, I was literally in awe. I don't say this lightly, but this is the best impromptu bill effect I've ever seen!" - David Jonathan

"You know when you're jamming with some magicians, and somebody pulls something out, and it makes you go **mind blown** , and then you throw everything that you were about to show away, or you shove it back in your pockets because you know it's all downhill from there...well that's what happened...I cannot recommend this effect highly enough!" - Ben Williams

"Impromptu bill routine that looks like a gimmick and CGI... yes please." - Ryan Schlutz

"When Kyle first showed me the Hancock Effect, I literally told him not to show other people. I'm not even joking, i thought it was so good, I told him he shouldn't share it with anyone else... But lucky for you, he didn't listen!" - Josh Janousky

"This is a trick you will do! You borrow the bill, you borrow the pen. Nothing to add on, nothing to steal, there's no gimmicks, there's virtually no set up...if you can fold paper, you can do this..." - Ryan Bliss

When Kyle Purnell wants to make you question reality he borrows a dollar from you, has you sign it, and then moves your signature from one side to the other without gimmicks. Then he gives the bill back to you for you to not only examine, but keep as a souvenir for you to remember the time he turned your brain into putty in his hands. This is Kyle Purnell’s The Hancock Effect.

Here’s what happens:

A one-dollar bill is borrowed from a spectator. An arrow and a box are drawn at opposite ends of the bill. The fill is folded into quarters so the audience member can sign their name below the arrow. Then, with no funny moves, the magician visually removes the ink from the bill. Next, they crumple the bill and place it in the hands of the spectator. The magician tosses the ink back onto the bill in the spectator’s hands. They open it up and their signature that was definitely underneath the arrow is now on the other end of the bill inside a previously empty box.

This effect was a huge hit at Magifest with magicians dragging Kyle all over the convection to perform this miracle. There really are no gimmicks, and you really can borrow the bill from your spectator. In addition to The Hancock Effect, as a bonus, Kyle teaches you his gimmick-free impromptu pencil through bill effect Incredibill. This download is jam-packed with gimmick-free effects that end completely clean and taught in detail for both right-handed and left handed performers. There’s even an included PDF so that international performers can perform The Hancock Effect as well. A moving ink effect has never been this direct and this examinable. Blow away your spectators and then leave them with an impossible souvenir with The Hancock Effect.

I was fortunate enough to meet Kyle last year at MagiFest and have a private performance and teaching of this, and it was by far, the most magical moment of the entire weekend. Simple, powerful, effective, and it’s all done with a borrowed bill. You can’t go wrong- it’s as impromptu as impromptu gets. Fantastic!

Pretty cool but only for US 1$ bills Report this review

I wish it stated that you cannot do this effect with any bill except the US 1$ bill.

It's a very cool effect and I wish I could be performing it here in Canada.

I rarely write reviews, but I'm compelled to do so on this occasion. Very rarely does a true impromptu worker become available to the Magic Fraternity. This is one of those times. Kyle, thank you so much for sharing your brainchild. It's brilliant. I'll be doing your trick for the rest of my life. Now the rest of you folks, stop reading the reviews and purchase this. You'll not be sorry.

Bravo, Kyle! This effect does take some practice (of course), but in a couple of days, you should have the moves down pat and be ready to perform. It really does look as good as the preview video - the “pulling off” of the signature is very visual and convincing. This one could also play effectively on a Zoom call. If you don’t have U.S. currency, Kyle even provides a method and a PDF template for performing with a regular piece of paper. Very generous. Note: there is even a bonus penetration performance included that is impromptu and quite strong. In short, buy this!

I'm not a coin/bill magician but when I read that you can borrow a one dollar bill, a sharpie and move the initials or signature without any gimmicks, I thought this was too good to be true. I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I performed the effect for my friends and family with a borrowed dollar and sharpie and all I heard was WTF!!! Like I said, I'm not a coin/bill magician or for that matter a close-up magician, so if I was able to fool the most critical spectators of all- my family, you won't have any problems doing the same with your audience!!

Add this to your impromptu repertoire Report this review

Hey, I can spell "repertoire!" Pay attention to the video. Stop. Freeze. Repeat. This doesn't require rocket science intellect or super duper sleight of hand. But it does require paying attention. I would put this on the level of the $2 bill to 2x$1 bill transformation I learned on Jay Noblezada's MONEY video (another kick ass trick - I carry the gimmick around in my wallet). The Hancock Effeect is about the same level of difficulty, which means NOT THAT DIFFICULT.

This is a great spontaneous magic. No Prep. Everything looks like real magic. Directions were a little fuzzy but I figured it out. It is well worth the money.

It’s not often that an impromptu trick comes along and truly amazes you. But this, this is one of those effects where the method is just as fun as the performance. This may even be my favorite impromptu effect of all time. But it pains me to write a review this positive because I know it will entice others to buy this. And while I wish Kyle would’ve just taught me the trick and no one else, I still want him to get the recognition he deserves for creating this. So against my will, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THIS. It will honestly be the best $15 you’ve spent in a while. It’s visual, it’s impossible, everything can be borrowed and it’s the closest you’re gonna come to becoming pure Magic! Big thanks to Kyle for creating this!

The perfect impromptu effect Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 19th, 2020
First off, this will not be for everyone as this trick is for those that want to blow the minds of their audiences. This will become my new go-to effect if someone asks me to do something at a moment’s notice. It has everything in a great effect.
1. Visual moment of magic
2. Impossible moment
3. Souvenir
4. Memorable
It’s not a knuckle buster but you definitely will need to practice a little bit to get it down. Once you can do it confidently, you will be able to do a really powerful effect any time.

I want to be the only one doing it! It's so easy and practical. This is a gem in magic! Bravo to Kyle Purnell. The trick is amazing, the tutorial video is in depth, and I don't say this lightly. I buy alot of magic and don't review often.
