Perform an amazing interactive piece of mentalism from the other side of the planet. Developed by the master of Verbal Magic, Juan Tamariz, and presented by Dan Harlan, Temptation is an incredible prediction effect wrapped up inside a presentation of fate and temptation. It’s great to perform on Zoom, Skype, even over the phone. Direct from Juan Tamariz’s amazing book Verbal Magic, this effect is a truly remarkable piece of Mentalism that will leave your audience speechless.

Here’s what happens:

The audience creates five slips of paper with numbers on the front and back, as well as a list of temptations and times of the day. The audience member sets aside one of the numbered slips and then mixes up the remainder flipping them end for end. Finally, after the numbers have been thoroughly jumbled up the audience members return the chosen slip to the mixed pieces and add up all the visible numbers. They then use the first digit to select a time of day from the list, and the second digit to select a temptation. Even though everyone selected different slips to begin with, and shuffled their numbers in different ways, everyone ends impossibly selecting the same time and temptation from the list. The best part is that you can customize the list to your own routine for it to be objects, emotions, or any other list that fits your style.

Originally performed over the radio by Juan Tamariz, this effect is as amazing in person as it is over the internet. Expertly taught by Dan Harlan, you’ll learn the mechanics of the effect as well as a full presentation and the nuances to perform this interactive piece of mentalism even though you aren’t in the same room. This simple to perform trick is a powerful effect that magicians of all skill levels will love. This is Temptation by Juan Tamariz, presented by Dan Harlan.

This is one of those tricks that in my opinion is not fooling anyone anymore.

Even more true IMHO if performed on social.. I uat saw the trailer and could repeat it.

Probably just not my trick..

Perfect! Easy to do, total misdirection that is self-working and loads of fun. Great on a Zoom party or meeting, or an in-person party (whenever we can have those safely again). You can adjust the topic and the words for kids parties or for adults. The fact that the participants make their own numbered papers, and then mix them up according to their own whims adds to the mystery of “how did it possibly turn out this way for all of us?”

I understand the math magic is not for everyone. I was able to suss what was going on before the explanation but that should not deter anyone from using Temptation since most people find math daunting. Once you understand the principle it is easy to do and is an excellent force. Dan Harlan taught Temptation well and made it easy and accessable for those who may have a problem with math. The one thing that may be an issue for some people is that it cn be a little time consuming, however you cannot beat the price.

This is a great audience trick as well as a great one on one trick, the only reason I take off a star is the fact that it took so long to do with nothing to hold interest during the set up.

The instructions in this video are awesome I have to say. Used it on my family during our visit for Mother’s Day. It was a huge hit. Used only 5 slips but divided up the labor. By the reveal everyone was invested in the outcome. I see other narrative possibilities as well. A jewelry heist or Murder mystery come to mind.
I might try a larger number of cards or slips. But after the reveal to toss in a happy Mother’s Day

I did this for four poker players using 4 suits 1-10.
They got to touch the cards and it gets more personal. At the finish I asked them what the worst starting poker hand is in Texas Holden.
They all said 2 and 7. Same as there total. Worked really well. Thanks

I'm a big fan of tamariz, but this trick dont feel that good to me. The "hook" the "move" seems pretty obvious. Maybe I can work for some crowd, but for me it's a not go. The setup of pretty long, the outcome is predictable and even if the "secrets" are hidden if not convince.

Hope I'm wrong and some people have fun to perform it, but it's too much procedure for me.

I am just beyond happy with Temptation. It's one of those effects where even when you as the performer know how it's done -- and it is as simple as counting to ten -- it's still astounding. It did indeed make me want to buy the Verbal Magic book, which this is basically from. You will LOVE this.

To receive an effect such as Temptation by Juan Tamariz and expertly taught (as usual) from Dan Harlan, one would suspect it to be a wonderful and deceptive trick. And you would be right! And it clicks all the boxes, not to mention the price is right! And the method is so versatile and can easily be adapted and customized to your audience. Definitely five stars!
