Move the ink on a card as easily as if you could photoshop reality. Nicholas Lawrence is known for creating mind-blowing visuals that make people question everything, and his latest release is no exception. Draw 4 X’s on the back of a playing card, cause them to visually move, and then they instantly jump back. Break reality with Neo by Nicholas Lawrence.

Here’s what happens:

A card is selected by the audience and signed on its face. The magician turns the signed card over and draws a large black X in each of the four corners. One by one the X’s each visually and reappear in the same corner. With a wave of the magician’s hands, they all jump back. The X’s instantly collect back in one corner for a final time. Then the card is handed out as an impossible souvenir.

Neo is a James Bond device you add to your deck that makes incredible visuals possible. Neo is perfect for your Instagram and Tik Tok. The gimmick works right out of the box and is durable enough for thousands of performances. There are no flaps, wires, or hidden levers. The gimmick is as easy to use as giving the deck a shake. Remake reality with Neo by Nicholas Lawrence.

Nicholas Lawrence is a very clever guy who has contributed greatly to the magic community. I’m sorry to say, his latest offering is a dud.

The design is extremely clever, but, even in dim lighting conditions the secret is obvious.

I can’t conceive of how one might be able to perform this in person. I recommend you save your money on this unless you are a social media performer.

Too Obvious... Report this review

I love the concept BUT, done in public, it would be a disaster because the gimmick is SO OBVIOUS that unless someone was wasted, you can not miss the view of the gimmick. I love Nicholas but sometimes making magic tricks to sell for the sake of just selling is not always great.

Gimmick is well made, tutorial is great, the visual is great… if the lighting is good. Definitely not what I thought on how it was made but a really clever . Good for social media, if used for walk around you will have to be a good distant apart. Overall I love it and love playing with this!

Sweet Effect Report this review

If you’re into Matrix tricks, pick this up. I would’ve ranked this 5 stars but I gotta say, I think Nick is great but for some reason or another I’m just not into his style of teaching. I have many of his effects and I’m always excited, but then I turn on the tutorial and get pulled out of it for some reason or another. I’m not trying to be mean, just helpful. I was hoping Nick Locapo was gonna come out and re teach. None the less it’s really easy so the tutorial isn’t a huge part of the effect.

Unfortunately this is not up to Mr. Lawrence's prior releases. This is pathetically overpriced.
There is absolutely no way you can get away with this live unless you frequently perform in opium dens or very close to last call at dive bars. Perhaps you get away with it on Zoom with the right angle and lighting.....(thus 2 stars instead of 1)
The price point leaves me feeling as though I purchased a very expensive box of cracker jacks and "Neo" was the prize.
I am quite sorry I spent so much for another drawer liner.

Not sure when you could perform this trick Report this review

The gimmick is really cool but I don't know how this could ever be performed live. It's just way too obvious. I've even tried to film this from multiple angles and under many different light conditions and I just can't find the right combination where the gimmick isn't blatant.

I've seen some of the more popular social media magicians use this gimmick and even they can't seem to make it work without it being obvious.

Cool gimmick, but not practical for real world performance Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on March 30th, 2022
Very cool gimmick, but sadly not very useful in real-life situations unless it’s very dim. The gimmick is easy to spot, which means that it’s only practical in certain situations. I may try it out for social media, but sadly, I don’t think this will be making its way into my live set. It is lovely to see Nicholas’ excitement for the gimmick and the method, though — it comes through very nicely in the tutorial!

Looks better in the video Report this review

After receiving the “Neo” effect.. I realized that one wouldn’t have a chance to “see” the method as well as you can in reality. Yes, in a low light setting,, one would find it easier to pull off, but I probably won’t attempt this in 0ffice lighting. I’ll give it a go to see the reactions I get… but this will not probably be my “A” list … go to effect. Nice concept, but not practical and very delicate to be concerned for warping or bending. And if it does… the effect is toast !

The minute I got this trick I played with it thinking how cool it is. I thought to my self it's really cool but people are going to catch me on this. I performed it for my wife, and she saw how it was done but did say it was neat. It's for sure a social media trick and will not be in my pocket for walk around magic. Nick does great work and has great ideas, just this one is probably going to collect dust.
