I love Joseph B's work, I truly do, however, sometimes I find his explanations excruciatingly long and repetitive. That's the case with this effect. It's a fine effect with an interesting technique, but there are just too many examples of the same thing. Most magicians are pretty intelligent folk and catch on to ideas pretty quickly, and to repeat the idea over and over really diminishes from the trick. As my wife would say, he's repetitively redundant.

Beautiful and thoughtful trick. Very clever. My favorite part is the fake shuffle in the middle!! Really inspired, that is.

The video while clear and long enough , spent far too much time on one concept ( the estimation) and not nearly enough on some of the trickier sleight of hand aspects, eg crimping, cutting to the crimp, and throwing the lucky card in.

In summary, a novice like me would like less theory and more help with the mechanics. But I would order his tricks again!! 😀

I love the method, I love the mechanics and I love that it can be a borrowed deck.

A mild disappointment I have is that while the description states it has no GIMMICK or MARKED cards... this is not entirely true. Depending on your definition of those two words, it arguably does have a gimmick AND marked cards.

However, in saying that, by the end of the routine, you can hand everything out for examination or to keep. You will not need to ditch anything or dispose of the secret in anyway.

No arts or crafts necessary, it really is impromptu.

On a side note: I ran into a problem with a borrowed deck. The guy wanted me to use his plastic gold foil cards (the kind you buy people for birthdays), I quickly realised that I cannot (or should not, to be more precise) do this effect with it. So I opted for a backup.

TLDR: Great effect, don't use plastic cards.
