The word game that took the world by storm is now a powerful mind-reading effect that fits in your wallet. They think of a secret word and you name it every time. Get a 100% win and keep your current streak with Wordalism by Josh Burch.

Here’s what happens:

The magician introduces a packet of puzzle cards that can be used to improve your game. The spectator thinks of a word on one of the cards. After asking a few simple questions, the performer is able to reveal the thought of word with perfect accuracy. It’s part game, part mind-reading, and a completley baffling effect your audience will love.

Wordalism relies on an ancient principle of magic that has been updated to baffle those in the know. Nothing is written down, and the word is never said out loud. It exists only inside their head. No need to memorize long lists of words or even look at the faces of the cards. The cards are all marked in clear English to make this easy enough for the complete beginner, but deceptive enough for discerning puzzle masters.

This is a great illusion. However the explanation being given was so difficult to follow. I had to turn over the illusion to somebody else to get a better explanation. A written explanation would be much better for this this trick.

I didn't realize that I would need eagle eyesight to make the trick work. I'll keep working on it, tho.

Words Work Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on October 9th, 2022
This is a great trick considering the popularity of the Online Game. Easy to do but I did need the cheat sheet to remember all the words and corresponding number. I actually took a picture of it on my phone and then I tell the person I need to use my phone to "look" into their mind... thus I get a quick peek at the word list.

Great mentalist routine.

... and as innovative as the amount it uses a very old idea. The trick is of course excellent and the cards themselves are Bicycle-stock quality. The way he designed this effect is just ... heck see for yourself. You won't be sorry, I can tell you.

I've had a lot of fun with this one. Modified the method of gathering the information to confuse my engineering buddies.

I Like This AND I Like Josh Burch Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 8th, 2022
This isn't a mind blowing effect, but it is solid - especially the way it is taught on the video - that is, 'this is kind of fun, kind of goofy, and I'm not very good at it.' And, I notice that Josh Burch answers many questions people submit. He has about a billion Karma Points, and he may work with Penguin. Which is fine with me!

Love the idea of taking a popular trend and making a magic trick out of it! bravo!

This one is fun to do and easy as well with just a bit of practice! Very cleverly made cards! spectators have a lot of fun picking a word and looking at everything.

Id say you could hand the cards to someone and they wouldnt figure out the method. Its pretty well hidden in plain sight imo. super fun stuff!

Old Prop-based Principle Gets a New Look Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on January 19th, 2023
We've all seen this old principle in our first ever Magic Set, but here's a modern twist on it. It's a sweet little number, that could only be delivered as a bit of fun, not a heavy mentalism/psychic act. It might fool some if not many, though most will quickly suspect the props themselves, especially when the search through the cards begins and highlights that the word might appear more than once. The suggestion that 'nothing is written down' is a misleading claim however, as the chosen word MUST be written already on one of the cards. So this is not a 'thought of' word, it's a SELECTED word. Their word does not 'exist only in their head', it's right there on the cards. Apart from that slightly exaggerated sales pitch then, this is exactly what you think it is - not a stunner, but a neat, very portable prop with a cheeky chance of being easily repeated.
