John Cornelius' Vanishing Nickel Was first seen by the world when Doug Henning performed it on his world-wide television special.

The VANISHING NICKEL looks like REAL magic! It truly looks like a camera trick however, you are able to perform this miracle close-up, right in front of your spectators without the use of black-art, special lighting, or any sticky stuff. It can be instantly repeated and it takes up no extra space than an actual nickel does.

EFFECT:
Imagine displaying a coin in your open hand. Your fingers slowly close over the coin. When you reopen your hand, the coin has magically VANISHED! With the fingers spread wide apart, the hand is slowly turned over, showing no trace of the coin on the back side of the hand. The coin has vanished completely! Lastly, the hand is again closed, and when reopened the coin has reappeared right in the middle of your hand. This is as good as visual magic gets.

The next time someone asks you to perform a trick, perform the vanishing nickel... The reactions are amazing!

The effect is very visual, and easy to get right in a few minutes.

But my goodness, can we stop with the lying in ads?

NO TAPE OR ANY OTHER STICKY STUFF

This is printed in bold in the ad copy, and it's 100% false. This effect is impossible without using sticky stuff, which is PROVIDED in the box. I would have bought it either way, but the dishonest lying is disappointing and getting old.

As others have stated, the ad copy for this effect blatantly lies about the method required for this effect. I am highly disappointed and if you purchase this, YOU will be too.

I did the heck out of this trick back in the day.
I bought it for 7 bucks back then. Great timeless trick.
Thank you Mr. Cornelius for a forever gem.
Great for silly social media magic but even greater for street with management of angles that are pretty good.

If you read the book Siegfried and Roy: Mastering the Impossible, it tells about Siegfried learning his first magic trick, which was The Vanishing Coin, and showing it to his father who recognized a talent in his son. The instructions for the trick are in the book and it is the same as The Vanishing Nickle by John Cornelius, although most likely called something else when Siegfried was a boy.

This effect is a real fooler and will wow an audience. It does require some practice, but not a lot, and is a Beginner Level effect. The sticky stuff does not touch the performer, but is used to build the gimmick. It is 180 degree angle proof as you would not want someone behind you while you are performing it. You cannot hand out the gimmick, it is a gimmick after all, but you can switch out the gimmick using your favorite method and hand out a duplicate coin. And, you can easily build your own gimmick after you learn how it works and can then use any coin that suits you and works well. This is a Real Worker. Enjoy!

I've watch Doug Henning perform this effect, and the cleverness of this effect is keen. It has the effect of making you a sleight of hand magician with the ease of preforming the routine and the best part you can add your own twist to it. vanish the nickel and produce it from a pocket, under a plate or inside a card box that is in plain sight the whole time. Just so many little effects you can add to it. The instructional video is great and well thought out. Everything you need to make this miracle happen come with the packaging. get this one and add it to your performance.

Okay so pros and cons

Pro: looks like add copy, works with most small or light weigh magnetic coins( Canada coins are all mgnetic).

Cons: use sticky stuf
Angle sensitive
Can’t do impromptu, requires set up
Needs lots of practice
Need refill after certain use for IT and with IT it can break

I wish the setup were easier. I cannot use it for walking around, only Paulor magic, if set up, and no one is behind you. This is one of those that looks best on video.
