The technique works, but I am not sure that it is better than using a hook up. The method taught by Michael Ammar on the Easy To Master Card Series permits some flexibility in performing the trick along with other card effects. The use of loops or other IT bands is another option. The main benefit to this method is that it is taught freely.

This is one way where someone could perform the haunted deck and it is free though I would not say this is the best version out there. It does work with making the deck feel normal with the ability to shuffle before the Haunted Deck routine.
