The tapered deck is arguably one of the oldest and most powerful trick decks in magic. It can give you complete control over selected cards, poker hands, and even the ability to divide the deck into reds and blacks. Now, you are getting a crash course on how to use it to amaze your audiences. This completely free tutorial with Nick Locapo will take you from zero to hero when you learn five awesome tricks with a Tapered Deck!

Here are the amazing miracles you’ll learn!

Locate a spectator’s selected card from a shuffled deck behind your back!

Cut directly to the four aces, even after someone else shuffles the deck!

Have the spectator name any number between one and ten, and not only can you cut exactly that number of cards off the deck, but you’ll also cut to the four of a kind of the named number!

Cut the deck exactly in half, a perfect twenty-six split, but even more impossibly you successfully cut the deck so that all of the red cards are in one packet and the black cards are in the other.

You will also learn one of the most incredible tricks in magic: Triumph. A card is selected by your spectators and then lost in the deck. Then, the deck is shuffled face up into face down. With a magical gesture, all of the cards correct themselves to face the same way, with the sole exception of your spectator’s card.

Grab your cards, shuffle up, and learn these astonishing tricks, along with a treasure trove of hints and tips on how to use this amazing trick deck. These tricks require almost no sleight of hand, are super easy to do, and are performed by professionals all over the world. With this deck of cards, the sky is the limit. Once you learn to control cards with the Tapered Deck, you’ll be the life of the party. We know you are going to love these five awesome tricks with a Tapered Deck.

Nick Locapo does a terrific job explaining how to use a tapered deck right out of the box to do more than just find the selected card. I've strung several of these into a bit of a routine that starts with a deck that has half of the cards reversed and then at the end of that trick, they are all in line. Two more of them can easily be done with no or almost no set up, so it's easy to roll along and produce 3 miracles back to back to back. Thanks Nick!

Stripper Deck Triumph Routine A+ Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on February 8th, 2025
This is a gem, and Nick breaks down the tapered deck(stripper) about as well as anyone. The Triumph routine at the end alone is worth it's weight in gold.

Most of these free downloads on penguin aren't usually that good... however, Nick Lacapo is the one of the best free downloads I've seen on penguin. I bought a stripper deck with the download and I loved all the tricks on this video. I recommend this

Excellent introduction to a tapered deck Report this review

Really good stuff if you are unfamiliar with using a tapered deck. The only complaint I have is that Nick probably should have explained that a tapered deck is also called a stripper deck.
