Blackpool 2025's sold-out product.

Lumino by Thomas Badar is the strongest memorization effect we have come across. If you haven't experienced the foolery feeling this trick gives you, stop reading this description and watch the trailer.

With Lumino, you can memorize the deck that the spectator has examined and shuffled in ten seconds, then recalls the red and black cards without failure.

That's not all.

In the strongest version of the trick, during the performance, it looks as if a single card has been dealt to the wrong place but at the end of the trick, it turns out to be the spectators chosen card. The spectator can shuffle the cards. The trick is easy to do and can be performed after 20-30 minutes of practice.

You don't need to look at the top card to tell the color. You don't have to touch the top card to tell the color. You don't need to use your memory to tell the color. You don't need to use a table to do the trick.

The trick is auto-reset.

Lumino is truly clear and also leaves the viewer with a feeling that they have just seen something that very few people can do, that of pure skill-based memory. But that is not true. The trick is easy to do and you can leave your memory at home, as you won't need it!

Thomas has found something that is unique in card magic. With Lumino, you can tell whether the next card in a shuffled pack is red or black without having to memorize it, see it or touch it. By eliminating these three things, solving the trick becomes seemingly impossible, even though that is what is actually happening.

Thomas spent 10 years working on his memorization effect and finally found Lumino. This trick has been a regular feature of Thomas' solo shows and has been broadcast on television several times.

Now is your chance to perform it yourself. Enjoy the trick.

I was very excited to perform this trick. However, upon receiving the deck of cards, I couldn't fathom how obvious the markings are (of physical nature indeed) and without a shadow of a doubt, any unsuspecting (with 0 knowledge about any magic) viewer will decipher what's going on the moment he/she holds a bunch of cards( for the purpose of shuffling).

It's not even about the cost of the trick, it's just that this will get caught.

I think it is a terrific effect but am disappointed it only has the basic handlings. For instance, what are the jokers for? I would think that for the price all would be revealed. Maybe there is a Facebook group? But I am not on Facebook. Why do we not get information on what all we could do with this deck? Just the minimum handling seems shoddy.

Disappointed - Not worth the $49.95 Report this review

I genuinely wanted to love this. The concept sounded exciting, the promo was solid, and I was really hoping this would earn a spot in my rotation. But after spending time with it, I’m honestly disappointed and I don’t want others to spend $49.95 only for this to end up sitting in a drawer like mine likely will.

Like others have said, the deck and gimmick are a bit problematic.
They probably shouldn’t be handed out or freely handled by spectators. That’s not a dealbreaker by itself, plenty of great tricks have limitations, but this one feels like it could have been saved if the teaching were better.

The biggest issue for me was the instruction video.
It’s short, scattered, and not very thoughtfully presented. When Thomas gets into the more detailed handling, the explanations get confusing instead of clarifying. With a better, more complete, and more structured tutorial, this trick might have had a real chance.

And the “secret Facebook group” situation just adds to the frustration.
He mentions several times that additional videos live in a private Facebook group… but never gives the name of the group or tells you how to access it. It makes no sense why the full instruction set isn’t simply hosted together in one place.

I’m giving this 2 stars because the idea has potential, and I don’t think the creator meant to deliver an incomplete experience, but as it stands, it just isn’t worth the money. I hate leaving a low rating, but I also don’t want others to throw money at something that feels unfinished and confusing.

Excellent and clever Report this review

Pros: its clever and works exactly as shown in the video. Its not a difficult learn. Nothing overly complicated. Novice could learn this with a couple hours practice. Experienced could perform this after about 20min.

Cons:You do need to limit and control how much handling the spectator has on the cards. There is a tactile aspect to this that if you allowed the spectator enough handling they can catch on pretty quick.

That said, I've been doing card magic for 20+ years and do not forsee having any issues with the spectator handling their selection and shuffling. A couple hand gestures to nudge the spectator to handle the card and cards the way you need for the VERY SHORT TIME they handle the cards and no one is catching on.

I debated on 4 or 5 stars and because there is a little spectator managing required to get the full effect I went with 4 instead of 5.

I'd still recommend this to anyone who watched the video and wants to perform this routine
