I am a big fan of Rick Lax. I would very much like to do this trick correctly, but so far, no luck. Rick, please redo the explanation in more detail on how to contact these gimmicks. I'm sure this is a good effect, but I guess I'm not smart enough to know how to do it correctly.

I got confused at the beginning when watching the video. But then I figured it out. Very simple: tangle the two pieces together make sure they don't move. Lock them together. Then pinch the two pieces loosely, and 'run your fingers along the spiral'. Do not pull.
