Maybe I am missing something but this is just the gimmicked version of the classic McDonald’s aces. Not sure how this guy was allowed to release this but he doesn’t even bother to throw in any convincers that he’s jot using gimmicked cards. I should have waited for Paul Vigil to release his routine instead. Even a version realeased on the Linking Ring that is gimmickless is better than this.

Hello Christopher, Jack Poulin here. Yes, this is a gimmicked version of Macdonald's aces. And there is at least 4 convincers thrown in for good measure. As you may know, the original Macdonald's aces routine is gimmicked. Nothing new here. This is not what I bring to the routine. What I added, are 4 nice subtleties that really convince the spectators that the cards are not gimmicked and that everything is as it appears to be. The signature really sell this and act as a very strong convincer ... the fact that the packet can be chosen is another convincer + the fact that you really show indifferent cards on top of each packet is another one ... + the nice vanishes and the "pocket" reveal, it adds a lot of punch to the climax ... I've been doing it for a couple of years as it is right now and trust me it hits very hard. Your spectators will love it. Have fun with it and if you have any question I will be more than happy to help. Peace. Jack

Very nice of you Jack! I totally agree with you on that one. This trick does not deserve the "one star" rating Christopher gave you. I just can't wait to practice it and perform it.

"Not sure how this guy was allowed to release this but he doesn’t even bother to throw in any convincers that he’s jot using gimmicked cards."

I'm not sure if you watched the instructional video, or maybe just the trailer instead?
He clearly shows handlings and ideas for convincers.

Did you watch the instructional video, or just the trailer? Or, maybe you just wanted to let us know about Paul Vigil's upcoming release instead? :)

I haven't performed this one yet, but I have been practicing it.

I totally agree with Scottjf23. Christopher Pullen in his comments just want to annonce a release by Paul Vigil of his version of McDonald Aces. His comments are not constructive.
When someone give only one star and other reviewers give 5 or 4 stars we don’t have to give importance to that reviewer.

I have not purchased this (yet), but you can't give some of these idiots the time out of your day Jack! There is a trend on Penguin's site,.. in the comments section, which attracts non-performing trolls to criticize everyone and everything. They're like flies attracted to shit! They are a minority, and they are very much like the shit in this equation. You can squash flies, but you don't want to step in the shit! It'll only make you smell like shit in the end!

They cannot be reasoned with, only ignored by those of us who can see past the nonsense. (I'm starting to think, albeit their un-matched quality of their speed and customer service. Penguin lacks in site moderators, which means we must moderate ourselves!)

There are literally McDonald's Aces variations for days!! Gaffed and non-gaffed versions, which all have their place. No one cares if Vigil puts out another one, the simple fact that the cards are 'gaffed' and NOT "gimmicked" (which is incorrect use, and NOT a word, btw!!! ***see below!!!) is a testament to your hater's intellect alone,..

***Gimmicks are used, but sometimes never seen, Or misunderstood when they are seen!!!
A smoke device up your sleeve producing smoke from your empty hands, is a Gimmick.

***GAFFS are seen, but are mistaken for something normal and easily understood!!!
McDonald's Aces uses GAFFED CARDS!!! People see them as just cards. Coins used in coin magic are gaffed.........but I digress!

I, for one, commend you for not simply copying other's versions, but instead coming up with what suits YOU, YOUR style and YOUR character. If it works for YOU and YOUR audience (which I'm guessing are LAYPEOPLE) It shows you put a lot of thought into making these classics, YOUR own. And don't let zealot get to you, simply because it doesn't work for THEM!! It's NOT THEIRS!! It doesn't have to work for them, as a matter of fact it shouldn't.

They need to realize that when taking something like this plot (A classic of card magic for generations!) they need only take parts of what they gather from everyone else they see. Then put together the things that work for THEM, and continue on their journey by fitting it to their own persona, THEIR OWN ACT, THEIR OWN CHARACTER!! The problem with that, is that they don't have their own yet. With their attitude, they may never! They therefore don't realize the beauty, in putting together their own takes on masterpieces,.. like, McDonald's Aces.

I want to thank you for putting this out, I'll be purchasing it soon enough, I will never use your version 100%, only because I practice what I just preached. This version is YOURS! My version is MINE (and also differs from everyone else's in the world) but I'd love to see your thought process and how you solved the already solved. It always helps me with my own process, and evolution, which means that when I do purchase yours, I may add something to mine inspired by you, ONLY based on ideas I learn from YOU (hope to). However, even if I add nothing to mine, I cannot rate your's based on my own stupidity, nor lack of use. You'll be reviewed on originality, teaching, thoroughness, etc, which I can already see you deserve some praise. 1 star rating is just nonsensical. Just from the trailer and description, I already like the added signed card idea. I think it's not the only thing in your routine that adds a very nice touch.

I have learned countless variations of this effect, and have taken away something great from each and every one of them. And it seems you have as well, I look forward to your take on it, and anything else to come. Don't let these idiots get you down, he's obviously never attempted to perform it for anyone, and if he did, he'd likely butcher the effect, which is your baby, because he doesn't understand it, not in it's depth, and how the nuances can help his own performance in general. So don't fret, and you needn't waste your time trying to prove anything to him. Some people are simply hopeless. Or, lack guidance.

I can be long-winded, but sometimes I read these reviews and comments and I just wanna vomit at the utter stupidity, and lack of respect we show for one another! We're all here together, to be helpful to one another, if all you wanna do is insult others due to your own short-comings, inadequacies and failures in life as decent human beings, then you don't belong in magic!

Being creative, and enjoying interaction with people is a prerequisite for being a magician. It's not because you want to learn secrets you didn't already know! THAT is a HOBBY, and at that point, you are nothing but a COLLECTOR of secrets! So if you don't appreciate others, then find another hobby, collecting something else, ie, stamps, coins, baseball cards, antiques, insects, etc,..

To some of us, this is not a hobby at all!!!! This is our craft, our livelihood, our career, and to some, their sole passion in life!

Honestly I'm ranting because I don't give a flying fuck about you, nor do I give a rat's bloody ass about your hobby of collecting "NEW secrets of magic"! You'll NEVER find them, especially not studying old timeless classics! Only new ways to do old things! And CONVINCERS????? If you have to convince people you're not using gaffed cards (further than using a,..let's say,.. signed card perhaps without bringing unnecessary attention to it ;) you are doing magic all wrong!! There should NEVER be suspicion, if there is, it is time you reevaluate your approach to card magic.

Look into ditching gaffed card tricks all together, or how you carry yourself in performance, or the vibe you give off, or study up on the "too perfect theory", give your cards out to be shuffled often, use decks people have lying around, try some great "hands off card magic" or simply give up card magic! The gist is that if you need to 'CONVINCE",.. you're doing it all wrong! (We've all been there, but you need to re-evaluate)

I implore you to come at me with something in Paul Vigil's routine that's truly new! Not just his own variation and combination of time honored things that work for him in his routine! (NOT to downplay Paul, I have nothing but respect for him as well)

As you mentioned yourself, there are plenty of gaffed and non-gaffed versions out there! I personally know at least 6 I can think of off the top of my head and none have anything "NEW", just different combinations of old, strung together.

All have their merit.
The end justifies the means.

PSA--> I swear, Penguin comments section is seeming more and more like a place for dipshits to unload their personal hatred for the world at large. It's like an epidemic. It's not welcome here! I'm sure this was meant to be a helpful and supporting community. Some people need to take their bullshit back to YouTube, or somewhere other than here!

8ofclubz ... thank you for your very thorough and detailed comment. Like you, I don't understand what drive people trying to put other's people work down without even purchasing the routine. I'm not angry at Christopher, I just feel bad for him. I really hope that he'll stop making unjustified claims just to hurt other's work. I'll surely feel better about himself. That said, I'm sure that you'll love the numerous subtleties and new/visual vanishes I came up with for this classic of card magic. Let me know if I can be of any help and a very big thank you for taking the time to write this insightful comment. Peace. Jack
