I've been doing magic for decades and particularly interested in mentalism for the past few years. I have bought many videos and this is the worst L&L publishing video and mentalism video I have seen. I saw his volume 1 and there were two effects on here where the method was the same as on vol 1. to be fair, the effects were a little different and gave me some food for thoughts but definitely not worth the price of the dvd. And the worst was an effect on this video where it blew me away. I said to myself "holy crap, I am going to the explanation and doing it right away" and I had no idea how he could have done the effect. Only to find out he told the spectator what to do. This is no pre-show. I am ok with pre-show. But this effect is equivalent to having a spectator think of a card and you name it, only to find out you told the spectator "later in the show I am going to ask you to name a card, when i do so, you name the Ace of Diamond." Shame on L&L publishing for allow this effect to make it on the video!

Interesting comment.
There is no border really. Meaning how a Magician uses a technique to "blow away" an audience. I also think audiences are quicker than we often perceive.
If one of his tricks blew you away - I assume the routine was excellent.
I don't think you could use the example you mention and the audience not figure out or at least question for sure the only way possible to do it. So again this is curious if the effect on the DVD was that powerful first time for you. Great feeling eh ?!
I'm a Rick Maue "fan" after seeing the Penguin Live with Johnny Thompson and Paul Vigil.
He really addresses the secret assistant and fools EVERYONE (almost) with a trick he does.
I think a Magician should think about just trying new (yet very old) methods / tricks just to see how it feels and plays.
If you don't like it or it doesn't feel right - you've justified that belief or given it some contrast.
