Magic Tricks

This thing does what it purports to do, and it does it pretty well. It's fairly strong magnetically and also seems sturdy, but that sturdiness comes at a cost. It is massive. It looks distinctly unnatural on my finger because of how thick it is, bringing it unwanted attention.

I would have lived with it being bigger than I hoped if not for the second issue, it turns my finger green. I was hoping for this to replace a cheap magnetic ring that I got for like $3 on Amazon because I was tired of the Amazon ring turning my finger green. I figured that the extra cost of this piece would translate to higher quality plating and/or alloys that wouldn't tarnish my finger. No such luck. The description doesn't state its metal makeup, but my guess would be that it's plated with nickel, which is a low quality metal that is primed for green finger. I've worn another, non-magnetic, ring on my thumb for 15 years without it ever having any impact.

Someone should really figure out how to make a PK ring that is embedded in stainless steel or titanium or tungsten carbide, or any of the other "normal" ring metals that have been derived specifically for their relationship to the skin.

This is a drawer item, and I'm going to go back to the cheap ring from Amazon and put some clear nail polish on it from time to time. It's a much more unobtrusive and benign-looking size.
