I think this is a stretch. It can take a lot of examination to make sure that a coin is going to work well for this trick because you have to think about all of the angles the coin could land in your hand.

There are some rare cases where a coin is especially well suited (maybe 10% of state quarters for ex?) it will be hard to tell. I've been practicing for a couple hours now and am experimenting with different coins from a roll. A lot of coins are "borderline." You could do the trick but it would not be as smooth. You might need to stall for time a bit with a borrowed coin.
