Don't get me wrong, the idea and trick itself is perfect. Perfect trick for the working magician
(including myself).
BUT ;) ... imagine you came up with a trick like this. You're making a
test version / sample of the trick ... I think 90% of the people here would send the test version
back, because of the the sticker colour difference. It's not that difficult to get the same colour
with printing (dive into: difference CMYK & RBG / fogra / printing standards et cetera).
And I know most spectators will not notice it. However, don't put a red deck face down next to
it on the table, then people will notice the colour difference. It would give you more freedom if
the colour would be the same. Now it's more orange than red (and yes I have the original ones, I
don't even know if there are already rip offs).
My girlfriend immediately noticed the
colour difference when siging the card. This was before finishing the trick and I didn't show the
deck or other face down cards next to it. She is not 100% a layman, but this would not happen if
there was no colour difference.
I hope they will do something about this, so the refills
will be better. To be honest, actually I can not believe they put it on the market like this. I see
"P3" (Penguin Magic) on it, so that surprises me a bit.
Yes, it would be nice if the color was exactly right, but I've performed Sticker Kicker many, many times without anyone questioning the color. My solution is to immediately box the rest of the deck while having the gimmicked signed both front and back. I have the front signed first to put time delay between the boxed deck and the back of the card.
When doing formal closeup shows, I peel the stick back completely off and give only the card. The reason I do this is after my card set, I give the guest of honor the entire deck. Not giving them the sticker negates the slight color difference.
When doing walkaround shows, the deck stays with me, so I leave the entire gimmick with the spectator.
