Not sure if this is a problem with the trick I'm using, if I'm doing something wrong, or whatever
issue it may be. Generally, the grip stick works great for most purposes (in my opinion). If you're
looking for packet tricks, I'm sure it'd work fine. The wax functions decently well, and the cards
stick together pretty tightly.
What I will say however, is that while the video claims
that the regular hold makes two roughed cards stick and the extra hold makes any roughed card stick
to any other card, I find that the regular hold is basically the extra hold in terms of strength.
I tested the grip stick on three decks in hopes of getting the consistency just right to
spread a fully treated deck cleanly. I was hoping that the stick between the back of a treated card
and the face of an untreated card would remain weak enough to have a semi-clean spread on a table.
However, what I found was that the backs of the treated cards would stick to the faces of the
untreated cards, and thus the deck became so sticky that it was impossible to spread. If I attempted
to spread the deck on a table, it would move like a solid brick. Seriously.
Again, this may
just be an issue with roughing sticks in general or maybe I haven't dried the deck enough. But I'm
sure it isn't due to an over or underapplication of the wax, as I've tested the amount multiple
times.
