Is it "locking" or magnetic...in other words, is it like a traditional Scotch and Soda or the more recent magnet ones?

How examinable, in reality?

Can the audience thoroughly handle it without detecting anything?

I haven’t road tested it yet, but I do believe it can be handed out for a brief scrutiny. I would at least have them touch the nail with their finger to prove it is a real nail. They can see the solder on the coin. Fused

Thanks.

The audience are going to want to inspect this closely.

I love this trick, and I've had it for some time. I remember getting the original over 30 years ago. Lol. This one is great and with a little audience management you can do the effect and have them touch the nail. I have no idea why you need to allow any audience completely to examine your props...no magician is trying to prove that magic is real. Key point, a little audience management.

I myself would not perform the trick the way it is done in the trailer. He is basically challenging the audience to solve a puzzle, so yes, I also feel that at least some spectators are gonna want to examine it under a microscope. If the prop can withstand that, fine, but I don't feel that is magic; it's just a gag.
What I would do is enter with the coin already on my forehead and wait for someone to mention it. Then I would say, "Oh, right! THAT'S where I left it." Then I would do the trick, show the nail to someone, and almost immediately move on to something else. It makes the trick seem a lot less important in its own right, but it makes it something that someone with real magic powers might do.

I love that idea ScottnNckle. Thank you for sharing it.
Its the way i perform the appearing disappearing silk. I first talk about how i don’t carry cash as i used to back in the day. then i take a dollar out of my pocket and say, oh look i never have cash on me. By the way do you know that real money has red and black fibers in them. (True) then i proceed to pull and pinch a corner of the bill and pull out a very long fiber( a black silk with a TT) out of the bill. One guy asked me , whoah do all the money have those? Lol
It beats just making the Silk disappearing reappear

I'd NEVER do this..... seriously, if you remove anything that supposedly was inserted into flesh, EVERYONE KNOWS THERE SHOULD BE BLOOD FLOW!

It MIGHT..... repeat "MIGHT" be ok for very small children OR Calif Valley Girls (who walk around in a cloud brain dead) but its DEFINITELY NOT FOR ME !!!

There is a trick for every style of performer. So your comment is not wrong @whycrywolf.

Marshall2 clearly you've never performed for friends or co-workers (they feel a comfort level in asking to see things or calling out bullshit much more than a "stranger who feels a necessity/decency to not be a jerk and grab your props or ask to see props etc) and you are only around people that politely play along with what you're doing for them...I've performed for years as a professional and I've been around long enough to call BS on all of these people that say "oh audience management"...if you think you're genuinely "managing" your audience, they're just being polite and moving on. It's much easier to do with strangers than people you know, and for those of us that no longer perform professionally, most of the people we now perform for are friends and family.

For those that have this, have you noticed that the insert does not fit well into the shell. Meaning the shell hangs over the insert a lot making a clear cut overlapping ridge. Not even close to a normal looking quarter.

Is this a trick that's going to get you on TV? Probably not. But I have had an earlier version of this and it the right environment, it rocks. I bartend and do magic behind the bar, this "quickie" really sets the tone for "hey, we are going to have fun".

A gimmick like this should be examinable! Period. It's easy to make examinable Scotch and Soda's so this should at least be of the same quality, otherwise, I will return it.

I know there are people saying you don't need to have your magic stuff inspected but I don't agree with these people if it's something like this. If they can see the coin is gimmicked there is no illusion, period.

This magical item is not in my view intended to be gory , quite the opposite. Rich Marrota is also an excellent comedy magician and this magical item is typical of his style and will be of yours too.Its quite hilarious. Spectators also like their magic funny and this bit of magic fits the bill. It is not a puzzle and, therefore,in my view quite unnecessary. to hand it out for inspection. Make them laugh, allow them to feel the point of the nail and move on.
Tip, present it with a funny line .

Dump some stage blood on it. Two birds with one stone:
1. The trick is now gory.
2. Spectator will want to avoid examining it.

Hi,Mr.wizard1957

I received mine a week ago, All i can say is that i couldn’t tell it was anything than a coin with a nail . It was beautifully made, and i used a magnifying glass . I’m not sure why there was a comment about its quality , Obviously, you should not damage it by stepping on it, ect. but it looks fairly robust and when you put it away , make sure it’s just a coin again and nail , When you get yours, this remark will make sense,

Guys, may I respectfully make a suggestion when performing this effect. , In my opinion, there is no need to use both hands. Using one hand to stick the coin on your head and then the other to remove it is not how i perform this effect. I use only one hand. Just practice the feel of it for say 5 minutes or so and after a few goes you will get used to performing it this way, As i did, Just a suggestion , everyone is different i know.
